The manufacturers, who manage to increase their shares in the field of global home textiles and carpet-rug production, observe the reflection of this increase in the exhibitions. After Domotex, the world’s greatest exhibition of carpet-floor coverings held in January in Hannover, the Turkish carpet manufacturers are preparing to take part in Domotex Asia-Chinafloor, which will take start on March 27. The Turkish manufacturers will participate in the three-day fair, which will be held in Shanghai, with the support of İstanbul Carpet Exporters’ Union (İHİB). The fair will be held in 11 Halls located on an area of approximately 126,500 sqm. At the exhibition, where about 1100 participants from 40 countries will take place, the carpet manufacturers will have the chance to present their latest products and collections to the Chinese and Far Eastern market.
İbrahim Yılmaz, Chairman of İstanbul Carpet Exporters’ Union (İHİB), made evaluations about Domotex Asia-Chinafloor and said that they aim to meet the customer demand in the upper segment in China. Yılmaz, who emphasized that China creates a selective perception, stated that with A Plus production they want to succeed in this segment. Yılmaz remarked that China, which has recorded a rapid development and become the world’s 4th greatest economy, is an important market for the Turkish carpet sector. Yılmaz continued by saying; “It is impossible to ignore the great market of China, which makes 13 percent of an average contribution to the world’s economic growth every year. We should enter the Chinese market with hand-made and amchine-made carpets this year. For the first time this year, we will participate in Domotex Asia-Chinafloor, which we regard as the most important way of creating influence in China, with 11 carpet companies on the national level.”
Yılmaz emphasized that regarding the hand-made carpet exportation, Turkey is the second country to perform the most purchases from China. “With a share of 24 percent, we’re the second greatest buyer. However we do not perform exports but I hope that we will make important developments after the exhibition,” said Yılmaz.
Carpet Exports Increased by 27 Percent in 2011
Yılmaz reminded the carpet exports target of $ 5 billion for the year 2023 and added; “The carpet exports reached $ 1 billion 630 million with an increase of 27 percent in 2011. The increase we achieved in the exports in the last three years did not fall below 25 percent. If this increase continues, we will exceed $ 5 billion in 2023.” Yılmaz remarked that at Domotex, the world’s greatest fair held in Hannover, they – as the Turkish carpet exporters - participated on an area of 18 thousand sqm, which is above the area occupied by the leading exporter countries such as Belgium, India and China. Yılmaz stated that they aim to reach the success they achieved in Hannover also in Shangai Domotex Asia-Chinafloor.
İbrahim Yılmaz said that at the fair they participated the previous year as a visitor, they made a review on quality and quantity. He underlined that they’ve recognized the mass of selective purchasers in China, who attach importance to quality and innovation. “As the carpet sector, we will adopt the sustainable rapid growth policy in the Chinese market. As İHİB, we bring our companies to Domotex Asia-Chinafloor on the condition of participating in the fair for 4 years,” said Yılmaz.
Domotex Asia/ Chinafloor 2012, which will be organized on March 27-29, 2012, is the greatest exhibition of floor-coverings in Asia Pacific region. Last year, 1,058 companies and 39,343 visitors attended the fair, which has been organized since 1999.
