Vienna based Starlinger which manufactures machinery for woven plastic packaging and plastic recycling has opened a representative office in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan. It was stated that the office would be managed by Yuldosh Kazakoy who is the chief representative of the company for the region. Administering the relationships of Stalinger with its customers in Uzbekistan, Kazakhistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan, Kazakov stated that a comprehensive study would be conducted ranging from problems to be encountered in the machines to comprehensive customer care. Expressing that they conducted detail researches before the investment, authorities of Stalinger explained that this region always grows. Authorities stated that Central Asia also reached important growth figures in the textile packaging industry as in every other field.
Starlinger is operating actively in Central Asia which has a strong growth potential as of 2010, in particular. The firm manages to reach new producers in the region as in Russia where it concluded agreements with 7 new clients in the last 18 months. Uzbek-Swiss joint venture, Leading Force Co. sets an example for this. The firm became the first company to purchase a line for the production of Starlinger AD star Block bags in 2010. Leading Force Co. has manufactured 15 million standard bags and 20 million AD STAR bags as of that date. The firm supplied its products to the cement, fertilizer and wheat sectors in Central Asia and Russia. The second AD STAR project was put into practice in Türkmenbaşı, a port town, this year.
The plastic recycling sector which has developed in Central Asia, in particular, is demonstrated among the important factors making the firm to take investment decision. Besides, Starlinger continues selling recycling lines for the handling of plasitc bottles. This system which is generally used in the beverage treatment industry also stands out as one of the steps taken to reduce the carbon footprints.
Having been operating in the sector of machine engineering since 1835, Starlinger exports its products to the world for 45 years. The firm operates with an export capacity of 99,5 % in the fields of woven plastic bag production and recycling, in particular. Starlinger continues displaying its quality and technology in 130 countries. Some of the countries where the firm has branches are Bresil, China, India, Indonesia, Russia and the U.S.A. and Uzbekistan.
Foreigner’s Favorite; Uzbek Textile Sector
Uzbekistan known as the heart of Middle Asia and the center of Silk Road, struggling for the growth in textile sector. Especially in the cotton and fiber-yarn segments, the country take attention of the foreign investors. In Uzbekistan, more than 95 % of textile products are to be produced by foreign companies and Uzbekistan stand as the 7th biggest cotton producer in the world. In the 2011-2012 period, they produced 800.000 tons of cotton, despite that they consumed apprpximately 273.000 tons of cotton. According to ICAC figures, in 2012-2013 period it has to be foreseen 861.000 tons of production and 281.000 tons of consumption will come true.
On the other hand, during the period of January-June 2012, Uzbekistan is the highest export shipper from Turkey in the Turkic Republic. Turkey exported 18 million Dollars of Textile products in the first 6 months of the year and increased the export rate 28.9 % . 0.5 % is the rate of Uzbekistan export figures in the total share of Turkey’s export. Uzbekistan is the 37th place in the figures of Turkey’s export rate with a nearly 30 million population.

Lots of Turkish-Uzbek company with a common investment like these, are getting active in the region.
