Grosse Increased Its Expectations in the Turkish Market

GITEC Grosse acting as a successful player in the jacquard weaving industry for 130 years has undergone a change process in the Turkish Market after the re-structuring in 2011. After this re-structuring, the company ended its relation with agencies and started to directly conduct its activities in Turkey through the Regional Sales Responsible, Mr.Tuncar Çelikbaş. Grosse having acting in Turkey without any agency for a while has concluded to conduct its activities through Mayteks Company in Turkey. We have interviewed Mr.Tuncar Çelikbaş regarding the change and their activities in the Turkish market. Mr.Çelikbaş shared important information with Textil Dunyasi Magazine and answered our questions. Çelikbaş explaining that they maintain their activities in the Turkish market in a constant contact with Mayteks Tekstil added that this has been a right decision in order to increase the market strength. Çelikbaş stating that they are always in contact with customers; “This continuous communication enables us and our customers to gather on a common share. Our activities supported with Market studies lead us to win the trust of our customers and result in increase in orders”, he said.

Çelikbaş reminded that GITEC Grosse was re-organized in 2009 and continued his words as follows; “As GITEC Grosse Internationale Technologie GmbH located in Ulm, we firstly focused on R&D studies, international sales, spare part and services. We have moved the standard machinery installation to China. At the company’s modern production plan located in Zhoushan Region, China, we have started to manufacture by implementing the German quality management systems. In addition, as GITEC Grosse, the quality of the end product installed in Zhoushan is under warranty with all crucial key parts supplied from Germany.”

Air Bag Investment Accelerated in China

Çelikbaş underlined that such a step was taken in order not to be negligent to the growing Chinese and Indian market and noted that the decision taken in respect with marketability contributed to the Company. Before the decision to move the production to China, Çelikbaş pointed out that heavy metals like casting and panels were already manufactured in China and thus underlined that the investment decision was given easily. Çelikbaş providing information about their investment studies in China said that they installed a plant dedicated for technologies especially in air bag field. Çelikbaş; “An installation field covering 18.000 square meters is built in China. We plan to manufacture UniShed-2, EJP-4, Name-Jac and CoolTrans machine models at the plant shining out with its modern features,” he said.

Consumer Demands Varies Depending on the Market

Çelikbaş informing that trend and specifications change in jacquard weaving field; “ As a developing country in textiles industry, Turkey continues to grow by undergoing changes Europe underwent. Fancy products come back and basic products are no longer preferred,” he said. Çelikbaş continued as follows; “The continuation and quality of the production performed in the country is also very important. In that sense, the quota applied to China is highlighted as a very successful strategy. The incentives provided constitutes as an obvious contribution. We give a considerable importance to the Turkish market maintaining its development in that sense. The studies conducted enable the domestic market to revive. On the other hand, the towel fabric market recovered in Denizli. It is obviously seen that the market trend is investment. I think that other markets will also recover like flat fabrics. In the global arena, a boom in India is experienced. Our expectations are not met due to the political problems in Iran.”

Flat Fabric Production Will Accelerate

Çelikbaş underlining that GITEC Grosse gives importance to quality in machinery production explained that they evaluate customer demands in that sense. Çelikbaş stating that they have taken firm steps continued;        “We act in an industry where harsh competition is present. However, we have aimed to reduce cost without scarifying German quality. The main principle is not to scarify quality. On the other hand, we consider and evaluate demands during customer visits and exhibitions and then decide. We perform R&D Studies dedicated to production. We expand the machinery spectrum in compliance with the production portfolio,” he said. Çelikbaş also mentioned about ITM Exhibition and ended his words as follows; “ITM Exhibition is an important exhibition for us. It is the second exhibition we take part in after the re-structuring process. We expect visitors from Near and Far East besides our Turkish clients to the Exhibition in Istanbul. As there is no visa burden, our clients can have a problem free trip to the exhibition. In addition, we will continue to be present in India, Indonesia and Shanghai exhibition. We invite our customers to our stand located in Hall 8, Booth 817B. We will also continue to take steps for the future. We foresee that till the end of this year and in 2014 there will be a change trend and the flat fabric market will recover. The towel fabric market is strong at the moment and will become stronger.”
