Dr. Meriç Bebitoğlu, General Manager of Atlas Halı which is one of the most rooted carpets brands of Turkey with its 49-years past, answered the questions of our magazine group about the success of Atlas Halı both in Turkey and in foreign markets.
Stating that as Atlas Halı, they have a wide and innovative product range, General Manager Meriç Bebitoğlu added that, “We have a wide product portfolio consisting of carpets which determine the trend in carpet world and stand out with their designs and a high production capacity where we use an advanced weaving technology. As one of the most rooted carpet brands of Turkey with its 100 % Turkish capital and 49-years history, we have an innovative understanding. With this understanding, our vision is to create and manage changes in our sector and always to pioneer the ideas and dreams of the tomorrow.”
Stating that they include nano carpets which can clean themselves with the effect of light and are stain-proof in their collections, Bebitoğlu expressed that they presented nano carpets which also have anti-bacterial, anti-mite, anti-fungal and anti-stress features in the first quarter of 2013 and they grew by 350 % in the same year.
Bebitoğlu added that, “We will continue our leadership in the carpet sector with the addition of new features and new patterns to our existing collections as well as our innovative product projects.”
Stating that Atlas Halı maintains its activities for becoming a world brand with its dealers and sales points reaching 500 in number at home and abroad, General Manager Meriç Bebitoğlu added that, “We offer our carpets to customers in European countries and in Germany, Netherlands, Greece, in particular; in Balkan countries and in Albania, Montenegro, Macedonia in particular; and in Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Middle Eastern countries.”
“We Do Not Compete but Create Competition in the International Market”
Stating that, “We represent the present day of a culture dating back to 2.300 years ago”, Bebitoğlu reminded that Turkey is an important market power in the carpet sector and added that, “The Turkish carpet sector which has a powerful ground and even has carpet business in its genes is highly important for the economy of our country and also, is an actor having a significant market power in the world. I always say, what a car means for the Japanese, the same is valid for carpet in Turkey. Turkish market sector which consists of rooted, knowledgeable and experienced brands has many advantages in the international market. We just need to manufacture more well-designed value added products in compliance with the global criteria, to invest in R&D and to open to the foreign markets more courageously by fulfilling all requirements of international branding. Because we know that we do not have deficiencies; we have additional features. We actually do not compete but create competition in the international market thanks to our value-added innovative product groups.”
Having won awards with its innovative carpet groups, Atlas Halı won the “Most Innovative Brand” award with nano carpet at the 4th Innovative Brands Summit. Entitled to receive the “Best Design” award with its carpet design called Derun at Design Turkey 2014, Atlas Halı was granted “Thank You Plaque” at the panel titled “Open Innovation: Opportunities, Limits, Different Perspectives” organized by Gazi University Technology Transfer Office (Gazi TTO) in the same year. Stating that those awards and plaques motivate them, Bebitoğlu expressed that they will continue making innovative and trend-creating designs.
Lastly, Bebitoğlu gave information about the product groups they will display at Domotex Turkey Gaziantep Fair, which is highly important for the Turkish carpet industry, and told that, “At Domotex Turkey Fair, we will exhibit five new collections that will create trends in addition to the new patterns to be added to our existing collections, all of which have nano features. Sır, Ihlara, Zümrüt, Nar and Cilve are our existing series while Mısra, Öykü, Rumeli, Rüya and Sarı Yaz are the new ones. Also, we will add new collections to our existing portfolio within the year.”
