A new investment from Starlinger in Asia

Vienne-centered Starlinger which manufactures machines in the fields of woven plastic package production and plastic recycling continues its investments in Asia. Following its investment in Uzbekistan last year, the firm opened a new regional office in Indonesia, a South Eastern Asian country, towards the end of 2012. Operating in Surabaya, Indonesia, the office started its activities by the beginning of 2013. Conducting its activities in South Eastern Asia under the name of PT Starlinger SEA, the firm targets to answer the ever-growing woven package market. The office which will operate both in the fields of sales and service will be managed by Hengky Senjava. The office will recruit four regional technicians at the beginning but will strengthen its service and sales connections throughout the year. Making assessments about the activities of the new office, Sales Director of Starlinger Hermann Adrigan stated that: “We target to provide the clients of Starlinger with comprehensive technical service in Indonesia. With the new office, we want to strengthen our position in Asia.

South Eastern Asia: An Ever-Growing Market

Powerful economic growth in South Eastern Asia makes the region an important market both at national and international level. In the region where packaging sector grows constantly, the driving force of the population shapes demands. While regional clients of Starlinger stand out as clients applying the packaging techniques generally used in agriculture, the evolving cement and chemicals industries also target the growing of the market. Celebrating the 25th year in the recycling technologies, Starlinger makes a further step towards its growth with its investment in Indonesia following the office of Uzbekistan. The firm provides a comprehensive service and sales network with many branches and agencies found in the USA, India, Russia, Indonesia, Uzbekistan, China and Brasil.

Being the market leader in machines for woven plastic bags, process technology and PET recycling, Starlinger is known as the firm offering the most comprehensive range of machines and plants. Producing successful technologies for easy use, high efficiency and cost effectiveness, the firm continues offering the necessary machines for complete polypropylene and polyethylene bags production plants, PE-file bag weaving machines, PP container weaving machines, PP-PE and polyester regeneration plants, laminate plants, laboratory devices, AD*STAR® complete polypropylene valved bag production plants, CB*STAR® shopping bags, PP*STAR® pinch bottom bags, polyester SSP plants. Starlinger’s product range of recycling technologies covers PE, PP, PA, PS, BOPP and PET (suitable for food substances).

The successful Presentation made in Interplastica was Appreciated

Starlinger introduced its new products in Interplastica fair held in Moscow, Russia. One of the most outstanding technologies became the new automatic twinTAPE200LX in the activity held from 29 January to 1 February. Hosting its visitors at Hall 8.1 and Booth A04, the firm displayed this technology in this fair for the first time. Introduced with the slogan of “Perfect sack begins with perfect bobbin”, twinTAPE200LX sensitive cross winder guarantees perfect fabric production with high efficiency.

A new feature are the bevelled edges of the bobbins produced on twinTAPE winders: This protects the tapes from damage during transport and handling (fraying, splicing) and avoids that tapes get loose and start to come off – an improvement which saves both waste and working time. Undamaged tapes also account for less warp and weft breaks during weaving, which results in fewer machine stops, less work for the operator and, again, less waste. Its contribution to efficiency stands out with the decreasing waste amount. It is stated that the structure of TwinTAPE 200LX contributes greatly to time saving. Besides, the newly developed traverse system of the machine can adjust the cross stroke variable and in case that the bobbin design is needed to change, no additional part is required. At the same time, it offers a special bobbin design and eliminates the oiling problem as it includes less mechanical parts. Reaching the predetermined winding length, the machine allows for automatic bobbin change and saves human labour. It also ensures tape bobbin production with its equal operation length.

The other technologies displayed by Starlinger in the fair included recycling works. It was exhibited that Starlinger’s recycling systems were suitable for many plastic types including PE, PP, PA, PS, BOPP and PET. Having achieved a remarkable success in the sector despite being in the sector for only 12 years, the firm has become a global actor in the market with one of its product lines, recoSTAR. Starlinger which manufactures PETs preserving foods with its PET recycling and treatment systems has been acclaimed by national and international brands including FDA (USA), EFSA (Europe), AFSSA (France) and BFR (Denmark).

Starlinger was appreciated by EFSA

The European Food Safety Agency EFSA has issued positive opinions for recyclers of PET intended for food contact using the Starlinger PET iV+ technology. While data obtained in the test regarding the recycling technology of Starlinger, Starlinger even succeeded in the tests applied under the worst conditions. While it was stated that heavily contaminated PET parts are processed without washing in the recycling process planned as 4 stages, it was also explained that Starlinger reached beyond the expectations of EFSA. Achieving a success of 99 % in 4 of 5 items in the scoring of EFSA, Starlinger reveals its quality with a ratio more than 89.67 %. Other firms indicating their quality levels and success with EFSA’s evaluation include Preformia (Finland), STF (Germany), MPTS (Poland), PET to PET (Austria), Eco Plastics (United Kingdom), BtB (Germany), PRT (Austria), Valplastic (Italy), Fellinger B (Austria) and BariQ (Egypt).
