USTER ® Re-Defines the Yarn Quality

Considering the competition conditions of the market, fault analyses have reached beyond thick-thin points which they are based and now encompass such critical parameters as foreign substance, number variation, fault frequency and hairiness. In this context, USTER ® which offers new solutions for yarn manufacturers with its newly-developed technologies provides a good advantage in classifying and preventing faults with its CLASSIMAT 5 technology. The most important innovation presented with CLASSIMAT 5 is explained as visual detection of defects to affect quality negatively during production.

The product developed by USTER ® both can detect periodical faults, faulty points and hairiness and make the standard analysis of thin and thick places which are indispensable for yarn trade. USTER ® CLASSIMAT 5 contains all the features of previous generations of CLASSIMAT such as USTER ® CLASSIMAT QUANTUM and USTER ® CLASSIMAT 3. With its new strong sensor  possessing a multi-colored light source, this new product can detect colored foreign fibers, herbal substances and polypropylene content for the first time.

Additional features of CLASSIMAT 5 technology include classification of periodical faults, analysis of limits based on cleaning index and classification of defects in terms of roughness and hairiness, the opportunity of comparing to USTER ® STATISTICS 2007 and business data ofusers, comparison of yarns coming from different parties or suppliers and quality sorting, technically most advanced USTER ® sensors, reliable measurements independent of machine or test rate and a unique mounting module with a special guide and stress control.

As part of an integrated testing and monitoring regime from laboratory to finished package, it provides the essential framework for the production of consistent quality in spun yarns. With high-tech product sensors and leading softwares, the new CLASSIMAT 5 offers the opportunity of measuring defects in a wide range. It defines all fault types known as outliers and identified as disturbing defects. This feature enables the yarn spinning machine to produce an even yarn and removes the defects. Thus, it increases quality.

The YARN BODYTM concept is now accepted as the best approach for identifying disturbing defects. USTER® CLASSIMAT 5 shows the YARN BODYTM alongside a numeric classification of thick and thin places. While the degree of contamination is profiled with this technology, colored foreign matters are displayed graphically in addition to numerical display. USTER ® stands out by classifying polypropylene defects for the first time in addition to its numerous advantages. While all defects were detected in 23 different categories, the number of categories almost doubled with this technology. USTER ® CLASSIMAT 5 can make fault detection in 45 different categories.
