Sustainable Innovations from Durst

Durst, the industrial inkjet specialist, presents its latest developments for the large-format segment at FESPA 2015 organized on 22-25 May in Cologne.  Durst Water Technology, which is exhibited for the first time at trade fairs and the long-term strategy of the firm, drew a great deal of attention as an eco-friendly alternative to UV-curing inks. Being aware of the fact that attention should be paid to such issues in this period in which the target is to make wide-format printing reach a higher market potential in the indoor and printing industries, in particular, in today’s world where tendency towards sustainable production has increased with new directives including REACH regulation and positive list in applied chemicals, Durst, with its functional water-based dyes, offers more odourless and environment friendly production opportunities when compared to the existing solutions in the market in addition to new Rho WT 250 HS sound printing quality.

Soft Signage

Durst supplies water-based disperse printing and acidic and reactive dye systems and the soft signage system or the use of textiles in form of coated and uncoated polyester fabrics as an advertising- and informational media, is one of the areas of growth in large-format printing. Durst Rhotex HS stands out as the most productive digital printing machine in the global market. Rhotex HS 330 cm offering 900 square meters of production capacity per hour showed its power and FESPA 'European Digital Press Association (EDP) awarded as "The best large format printing at high level".

Rhotex 180 TR

With the Rhotex 180 TR, Durst is expanding its textile direct printing portfolio with dye-sublimation technology. Printing on sublimation paper and the transfer process using a calendar minimizes production expenditure and enables those not in the industry to enter the field of textile production. The Rhotex 180 TR offers industrial productivity at a production speed of 200 sqm per hour and a maximum printing width of 1.85 cm.

Odorless Water-Based Dyes

Christoph Gamper, CEO of Durst Phototechnik AG said that they made groundbreaking progress in large format printing segments through industrial soft signage printing machines thanks to their newly developed Water Technology systems and in the use of advertising and information media of textile materials.  Mr. Gamper added: “The use of pressure with environmental and odourless water-based dyes has been started for the polyester based products and it is becoming an alternative to the old production systems. We created a new dimension for our innovations and developed sustainable production systems and classic large format printing applications. Rho WT 250 HS did not only start a new era in wide-format printing but also it is one of the most important examples of our success in order to bring our innovations to the industry. Durst Kappa series have been developed for the production of such traditional textile products as high performance industrial printing machines, home textiles, clothing and decorative items. The Kappa 180 TR and Kappa 320 use water-based reactive-, acid- and dispersion inks. Reactive dye system having GOTS certificate can be used for organically grown natural fibres.”
