In recent years, the tendency towards technical textiles has increased due to the emergence of new demands in the textile sector and due to the fact that common yarn types cannot meet all requirements alone. Technical textiles have managed to become the most dynamic and promising area of the industry in the current structure. Firms have given more importance to this issue, and have made investments to develop design and R&D works in this direction.
19 Projects Received Government Support
With 50 years of experience in the production of industrial sewing and embroidery threads, Durak Tekstil has increased its design and R&D efforts in technical textiles and has succeeded in catching up with the major changes in the world. Durak Tekstil, which closely follows the developments and demand in the technical textile sector and continues its new product researches in this direction, continues to meet the needs of the sector with its work in design and R & D departments and contributes to employment with the importance it attaches to these departments. All 19 projects realized so far have been deemed appropriate in terms of their content and have been awarded with government incentives. As a result of these projects, Durak Tekstil has succeeded in exporting its products, which it creates added value, to 70 countries in 4 continents and as a result, contributed to the national economy.
In his studies in 2020, focusing on technical yarns with performance-enhancing features such as flame retardant, water repellent, UV resistance, reflective, antistatic, cut resistance, and endeavors to work in this direction.
High Tenacity Yarns
Fatal job-related accidents have become a major problem in our country since 2012, with an annual increase of 475%. In order to prevent these accidents that have seen an increase in recent years, there has been an urgent demand for the use of technical textiles as protective equipment in gloves, shoes and workwear that provide resistance against mechanical risks such as cuts and abrasions. Durak Tekstil has produced industrial sewing and knitting yarns that meet the requirements of EN 388 and TDM-100 test methods, and provide cutting resistance at Cut-3 and Cut-5 levels.
In addition to cut resistance, technical yarns with UV resistance are becoming more and more important every day. Observing the increase in ultraviolet light intensity, forms a part of sunlight, has increased the need for UV resistant textile materials. Standard products exposed to ultraviolet experience deformation on the surface over time and the service life of the products is thereby shortened. In order to eliminate these negativities, the fading of the color of the yarn was slowed down by using UV absorbent material in the production process, and its service life was extended in outdoor environments.
High Fastness Values Captured
In the last months of 2020, a study involving dye of cotton yarns with different dyestuffs has been started. Especially in areas requiring high fastness such as in military uniforms, outdoor uses, curtains and tents, yarn fastness values are of great importance. Reactive dyestuffs, which are widely used in the dye of cotton yarns, may not be sufficient in special application areas that require high fastness. For this reason, the pros and cons of the use of indanthrene paint, dyeing processes, and the technical benefits it adds to the product have been investigated in detail. As a result of the laboratory studies carried out, Durak Tekstil has developed the methods used in the production of cotton raw materials and has succeeded to exceed the desired fastness values.
Durak Tekstil's design and R&D department has come to an end in the R&D studies of yarns that are not visible in the thermal camera, which they have been working on for a long time. This product, which will be produced with high technology and will lead the yarn sector in military and technical terms, is aimed to be put on the market in 2021, ready for sale.
