
Sun Textile which comes to the forefront with its R&D products in the field of technical textile has started to the production of seat fabric used in upper segment automobile brands. Sun Textile which draws a successful graphic in the sector with its R&D centre which it has organized within itself has become popular since 2010 with innovations which it has brought to the sector. R&D centre established by the company supports the development of new fabric types by Ekoten which operates in knit fabric production and also the development of new products by Sun Textile. Sabri Unluturk, the Chairman of the Board of Sun Holding, who evaluates studies of R&D centre has emphasized that they introduce new fabric quality to their customers between 50 and 100 each month. Unluturk who underlines that these kind of productions are expensive processes which take time has told that they will continue their studies in the field of technical textile in which they are successful.
Unluturk who has mentioned that technical textile appeals to both fashion field and other fields in which textile is used has referred to these; “We will continue the production of technical fabric in fields such as automotive, construction, aviation. However, our studies for automotive textiles will be our initial objective. We have started to manufacture the fabric which substitutes sponge in automobile seats and used in upper segment automobile brands. This product which has begun to enter to the industry gradually and which is named as 3 dimensional fabric is a fabric which has 15-20 mm thickness and air permeability and decrease the volume of seat. We have established a company named ‘Ames Textile’ in Ege Free Zone within 2013 with a Dutch company which is an expert in this field. Test productions have been completed, orders have been received. We will send these fabrics to BMW and Mercedes within next months.”
Birkan Yurdakul who is the Director of R&D Centre of Ames Textile which was established in Ege Free Industrial Zone has told that Ames Textile is the first facility in Turkey in which warp knitting products are manufactured in order to be used in foreign automotive industry. Yurdakul who has stated that 2 million Euro has been spent for the facility established on 1500 m2 field has emphasized that they appeal to upper segment automotive manufacturers in Europe.
