Wİth the patented technology, with the support of Ministry of Development, at the Electronic Materials Production and Application Center (EMUM) established under Dokuz Eylül University, nanocomposite textile material was produced that has heat emission feature and which will revolutionize in a large area such as from residential heating to astronot suits, from fashion to defense industry.
With EMUM Manager Prof. Dr. Erdal Çelik and DEÜ Metallurgy and Materials Engineering Department Research Assistant Dr. Mustafa Erol's heat-emitting nanocomposite material development project which they started in 2007, portable sauna, underfloor heating systems for residential and greenhouses, water heating systems for boilers, heat-emitting products such as carpets and blankets were developed.
We Work To Simplify The Life
EMUM Manager Prof. Dr. Erdal Çelik said they are working in the head office with the advanced devices that are very few in the world on nanotechnology projects, working on the scale of one billionth of a meter in size, they aim to develop functional materials to make life easier. Çelik stated that, with heat-emitting textiles nanotechnology intervention the idea on to develop heat-emitting materials during their projects based on a study they started to see if they can or can not produce a portable sauna, that they found heat-emitting nanocomposite textile material.
Çelik tellig that in the 6-year study, the graphites reduced to nano size by grinding, they processed on textile and film materials via polymers, also stated that wih 12-volt electric, heat-emitting material provides a homogeneous heating. Çelik said they can predetermine how much degrees the heat-emitting textile or film will reach and the material they developed can be curled, folded, stretched as requested.
Safer
Çelik stated that, in classic heaters warming can be made through the metal resistors, a very high degree of heat on the wire generates the heat by spreading in the environment, but in nanocomposite material; warming happens at the entire material as homogeneously, this allows safer and low cost heating than the classic system, "We have developed a technology that will revolutionize heat technolog" said. By stating the production is made by using the technology they produce Çelik said:
"We can turn the surface that we covered with 2 square meters nanocomposite film into a portable sauna in the form of a chamber by curling. A temperature of 75 degrees occurs in the sauna. Another product that we produced wit nanocomposite material is heat emitting carpet. When the carpet is in the area, we are able to use this heat emitting material at underfloor heating in housing. We are in talks with companies for serial manufacture of the material. The product's usage in daily life will start first with heat emitting carpet, portable sauna and heat-emitting textile products. Heat emitting blankets and clothes are continuing to work on the improvement. "
Lower Cost
DEU Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering Research Assistant Dr.Mustafa Erol said, the material which can be used in all areas that heat is needed has been produced with cheap raw materials, has lower installation and operating costs than the other heating devices. In transition to serial manufacture of the material that is produced under laboratory conditions 100 lira per square meters of the total cost, Erol stated that it can be much cheaper, houses can be heated much cheaper with nanocomposite material than natural gas. Erol emphasized that tests still continue on clothes and development work are being made for astronaut suits, military and sporting use, "This technology, will bring significant changes along in winter clothes. For example, clothes made with battery-powered, heat-emitting textile, will eliminate feeling chilly. We are open for suggestions in developing point the system in different directions. Also we are in contact with the textile companies with our design format.”
