Mogul Continues Investments in Nonwoven Sector

Having operated in Gaziantep which is called as nonwoven production base of Turkey in the fields of technical Textile and nonwoven since 1997, Mogul continues to maintain its pioneering position in the sector in the international arena with the production plants to be opened this year. Manufacturing pp spunbond,  pet spunbond (including bicomponent), spunlace, meltblown, sms, peva film, extrusion coating and apparel (environmental cleaning products) in two plants located in Gaziantep, Mogul will initiate the production of cross lap spunlace for the first time in its branch in Lüleburgaz-Durabey as well as patented bicomponent micro-filament production which is a very innovative technology in the world.

Answering the questions of our magazine group with respect to this matter, Serkan Göğüş, CEO of Mogul, provided the following information: “In the branch of Durabey-Lüleburgaz that will be opened this year, cross lap spunlace and patented bicomponent microfilament production lines, performed by Mogul for the very first time, will come into operation. Besides, we are planning to start spunlace fabric production in South Carolina, the USA, at the beginning of 2017. These investments continue strengthening the pioneering position of Mogul both in terms of capacity and production diversity. At the same time, with the investment in the USA, we will gain the identity of an international firm after being known as a firm operating and recognised in foreign countries.”

“Cross Lap is A First For Us”

Stating that the new product range will be accompanied by new markets for Mogul, Serkan Göğüş continued by saying: “Although cross lap will be a first for us, it will be complementary for the existing product range and client portfolio in spunlace. Also, it will open new markets and practices for us. Even the installed chemical application system has an important place in terms of product diversity and application development. The hybrid bicomponent microfilament line which we got patent for from abroad and is the highest level of technology will manufacture technical fabrics and top clothing and furnishing fabrics on which quasi-textile touch and textile finishes can be applied. PBT and TPU fabrics that we offer in meltblown will expand the product range.”

Key Product in The Automotive Sector: ‘Cross Lap’

Another field where Mogul is active and has a wide product range is automotive sector. Answering our questions with respect to their product range for this sector, Göğüş said that, “Especially the cross lap product we will introduce soon is a key product used in the automotive roof applications. Another new product, bicomponent microfilament fabric, has a potential of usage both in roof and seats and upholsteries. Also, pet-based fabrics are used in airbags and carpet rear floors while meltblown fabrics are used in sound isolation applications.”

Stating that they have a significant potential in terms of nonwoven production in consideration of the automotive sector in Turkey, Göğüş added that the biggest problem is that product specs and purchase decisions are taken by the centres in foreign countries. Stating that, “This prevents product diversity and reduces the chances of nonwoven manufacturers to offer and supply alternative products”, Göğüş emphasized that the awareness of automotive firms about local production should be raised via cooperation attempts.
