Textiles manufacturers operating in Latin countries and the relevant civil society organizations participated in the event where production problems of Latin countries and development of environmental consciousness were addressed in line with the themes of recycling, use of plastics in nonwoven production and 2020 Nonwoven Vision adopted by EDANA.
In the event organized by ABINT, EDANA and Association of Latin Technical Textile Manufacturers in Sao Paulo on 19 November, Jean-Michael Anspach, Technical Training Director of EDANA touched upon the fact that sustainability is important in nonwovens and nonwoven market passes through a constant growth with high growth rates and talked about the interest that companies dealing with traditional textile production shows in technical textiles and nonwoven sector. In his speech, the necessity of focusing on the understanding of “More environment-friendly and more sustainable textile” in order to achieve a sustainable competitive power in the way towards perfection in textile was emphasized.
Ready-to-wear sector changes shell
Wagner Souto Carvalho, Chairman of ABINT, stated that desired development of textile sector is based upon R&D studies and long-term programs conducted for innovation, scientific studies open new horizons every day and textile and ready-to-wear sectors go through a rapid shell-changing process. Emphasizing the importance of sustainability at this stage, Carvalho stressed that ABINT and EDANA have carried out joint initiatives on this matter for a long time.
Laerte Guião Maroni, Communication Director of ABINT, said that this event is the first one of OUTLOOK Latin America concept and relevant works will continue without cease. In the event where the confusion encountered while interpreting and applying PNRs was addressed in detail, current practices of the sector were given as example.
