
Oeko-Tex® which was created by Hohenstein and other institution in Europe which are directing the sector with their tests and researches by gathering in order to form the standards developed a system named ECO PASSPORT for sustainable textile chemicals. This certificate was shaped for the confirmation of the usage of sustainable textile production of textile processing chemicals and chemical component products. The system which has a plot application right now will be legally started in the beginning of summer of 2016.
Three steps for ECO PASSPORT
ECO PASSPORT certification system developed by OEKOTEX® is composing of three main steps. In the first step, the list of the chemicals explained by the manufacturers are comparing with OEKOTEX® Standard 100 Banned Substances. In the second step, risk/ danger evaluation in the sense of health and environment is carried out. And finally, in the third step, good harmony test is done within the scope of ECO PASSPORT certification. The results of each evaluation steps are shared with the appliers so as to create formulas for safer and more sustainable of the data.
Products which achieve three steps are entitling to take ECO PASSPORT by OEKO-TEX® certificate. Chemicals which are confirmed and have OEKOTEX ® Standard 100 certification save the reliability of being used in textile products and manufacturing plants. Switzerland centered International OEKO-TEX® Union was established by Austria Textile Research Institution and German Hohenstein Research Institutions in 1992. The union including 16 independent textile research and test institutions within it, has 52 acting offices in 60 countries. Until so far, it has given more than 150.000 OEKO- TEX® Standard 100 certificates.
