Having a history dating back to 1976 in adhesive type production, Bento A.Ş. achieved a result meeting their expectations, at ANEX 2012 Asia Nonwoven Exhibition. The company had a 40 square-meter stand in the exhibition and displayed their tapes and frontal tapes for baby and adult diapers producers. In his statement for our magazine, Mervan Birlik, Bento’s Export Manager, explained that they were present at the exhibition with Export Specialists Sinan Emre Aygün and Barış İşeri and that they attracted the attention of visitors from many countries especially South Korea, Japan, China and Indonesia.
Reporting their expectations for Asian market and stating that they have reached significant growing figures in Asian market in the last 2 years, Birlik said; “Particularly Japan, Korean and Chinese manufacturers interested in us much more. We are achieving the sales targets foreseen in Asian market”. He said that in the exhibition they have made new sales and received new demands as well as introducing their new products to target markets and 5 percent of their total export is to Far Eastern countries.
Aiming to perform an export of 40 million Dollars in 2012, the company is currently exporting products to 40 countries. Mervan Birlik reported that they aim to increase the export in nearby and neighboring countries and pointed out that their share in Far Eastern markets is continuously increasing.
Japanese Nitto Denko Acquired Bento
Japan's leading diversified materials manufacturer Nitto Denko Corporation acquired all shares of Bento Bantçılık ve Temizlik Maddeleri San. Tic. together its subsidiary Bento Pazarlama, Turkey’s leading manufacturer of hygienic and industrial tapes, in April. With Bento joining its global network, Nitto Denko aims to increase within 5 years by 2.5 times its sales from tape business in Europe and other neighboring regions by boosting the business there, centered on the emerging economies such as Turkey, Eastern Europe, Middle East and North Africa.
Two years ago, Nitto Denko has set up Nitto Denko Turkey Bant Materyalleri San. ve Tic., which conducts material processing and sales of tape products, in order to serve the tape product needs in bullish automotive and household appliances sectors. In the meantime, Nitto Denko has been exploring possibilities of acquiring a company, which may potentially strengthen its competitive position in aforesaid segments by localizing its cost effective operations and achieving an optimal supply chain.
Thanks to Bento’s high quality production facilities in Turkey, Nitto Denko aims to improve their cost-efficiency and rapid customer service further and, thus, to increase the tapes sales in developing markets such as Middle East and North Africa as well as in Europe.

Bento A.Ş. acquired by Nitto Denko in April 2012 started in 1976 with the production of the ASTEL brand “packing tapes” and “masking tapes.” Starting off in their new plant with 100 staff at the end of 2000 and increasing the number of staff up to 240, Bento A.Ş. produces, as well as packing tapes, closure tapes and frontal tapes for baby and adult diapers producers, protective tapes to be used in the window profile, external facade panels, aluminums and steel plates sectors, masking tapes for industrial usage, double-sided tapes and cellophane tapes. The company that also performs the production of wet wipes in addition to adhesive tapes reached a consolidated turnover of 135 million Dollars in 2011 in their modern plant with a closed area of 19 thousand square meters.
