Wumag; ‘German Quality Must be used to Compete with Asia’

Wumag Textroll being one of the industry leaders reflecting the German quality with custom made production provides machinery supply for the industry since 1948.  The company having production in production fields of Cylinders, drying cylinders, calibration cylinder couples used in nonwoven and technical textiles production, laminator-lamination cylinder, thermo-fixing machine realize production as per the optimization and process demands from its headquarter located in Krefeld, Germany.  In addition, Wumag Texroll is a leading manufacturer of steam heated drying cylinders and water- fluid cooling cylinders production for many years. The company’s production covers calibrating & smoothing calenders for needlepunched as well as thermofixing & stretching machines for filter fabrics, belting, sailing cloth.

The Producition manager of Wumag Texroll company, Karl Heinz Vaaben made a presentation at VDMA’s Istanbul and Gaziantep conferences and made special explanations on wide production areas and production costs. Vaaben answered the questions of our Magazine after the event and evaluated his presentation titled “Wumag Textroll Provides Considerably Low Cost Advantages” and new technologies. Vaaben stating that they have introduced Airplus technology considered as the most important cylinder drying machine in the market in 2012, “We are very happy for this revolutionary study,” he said. Vaaben informing that they guarantee to reduce production costs’ of their customers with their state of the art technologies underlined that sustainability was their focus point for 2012.

Vaaben stating that the drying cylinders will be taken out from a special isolation in their latest innovation and that it will be equipped with newly developed energy efficiency systems AirPlus and Steam Plus continued as follows: “The air amount generating with these precautions will efficiently decrease and at the same time drying efficiency will increase. The energy recovered with AirPlus energy recovery system will be directed to the drying process again. On the other hand the SteamPlus system stands for perfect temperature accuracy, improved regulation dynamics and a complete saving of the bypass steam loss. All systems are designed as Add-on packages and can also be retrofitted onto existing machines.”

Not Standard but Production as per Needs

Vaaben making explanations about the textile drying process pointed out that the effect of the quantity of air evaporated is important at this point. Vaaben noting that the use of air in classical systems creates in negative results stated that they use the effect of the air in a positive manner in the new designed system. Vaaben reminding that they also realize this process with Airplus system pointed out the followings; “Depending on fabric type & drying temperature we are able to reduce energy costs by up to 20% with this part of our upgrade bundle. Due to the fact that this rate is high, we are preferred by our customers. We obtain successful results in terms of technical textiles as we provide diversified machinery. We also highlight our difference among machinery builders. In that sense, we provide machinery supply to nonwoven manufactures appealing to niche markets. We provide solutions for companies manufacturing special product by building special machines.”

Vaaben stating that in technical textiles they arrange the fabric heat, width and length in each step on a sensitive pressure level mentioned that with this study they increase productivity. Vaaben reminding that they manufacture machines applying different fabric finishing effects continued; “We constantly keep our technology updated by producing creative solutions to problems experienced in nonwoven production”, he said.

Quality Machine In order to stand the Global Competition

Vaaben talking about the LCC -Life Cycle Cost issue being on the focus of presentations presented at VDMA’s Istanbul and Gaziantep events said “We aim that customers check their cost expenses and that they make right investments”. Vaaben pointing out that they want to describe a process covering all costs of a product, mainly the daily use cost, continued as follows; “LCC express the total cost of a product (a good or asset) during the whole service life. For example, LCC determined the cost of a car as the use from the date of purchase, repair and maintenance and till selling. LCC reflects the cumulative total of operating costs during the investment’s beneficial service life and the purchase cost. When different expense factors are examined, it is seen that the drying cylinders used in textile industry constitutes a great part of the operating costs. In that sense, it creates an important rate within the high savings potential. We aim to one step ahead negativities of this kind thanks to our studies.”

Vaaben stating that Turkish manufacturers shall work with German machinery builders in order to compete with Asian manufacturers underlined that they enable companies to survive globally with low production cost. Lastly Vaaben mentioning about Bluecompetence approach defined “Bluecompetence” as a big step on behalf of customers’ future.
