Şeref Fayat, the President of Turkish Clothing Industrialists’ Association (TGSD) who states that they have prepared an action plan focused design, branding and innovation to save the position of Turkish ready-made clothings and garment industry in the market and get it up more, also states that they maintain their activities to realize their targets with R&D stimulus package which was issued by the government in the previous days in order to be a driving power. Fayat gives the following statements on this issue; ‘’As being ready- made clothings and garment industry sector, we set a 60 billion dollars of export target goals for 2023 which is the 100th anniversary of our Republic. We believe we can only attain the target with original design, branding and innovation. With this belief, we have a design- branding and innovation focused action plan in 2016 as it has been in last several years. In order to carry out our targets, public authority needs to be a great collaboration and special entrepreneurs need to be encouraged. I evaluate Design Support Manifesto for Turquality project which predicts giving unrequited support till 1.4 million dollars for design and product improvement activities of entrepreneurs as an important step. I also evaluate R&D Stimulus Package which was declared on January rather positive for medium- sized enterprises being in the first place and ready- made clothings and garment industry sector.’’
Turkey’s Share Will Increase at Smart Product Manufacturing
Fayat who states that ready- made clothings sector needs to concrete on innovative production expresses that Turkey will have an important share in the world at smart product manufacture thanks to innovation.
Fayat, the President maintained his words as follows ‘’Turkish ready- made clothings sector has expanded to the global markets by y making contract manufacturing to EU. Now, we are the seventh biggest supplier of the world. We need to concentrate on branding and high value- added innovative manufacturing so as to save our position in the market and increase it upper positions. There is a real in the world called ‘smart product’. For example; countless innovative products such as showing slim suits, wash and wear shirts, antibacterial socks and antistress underwear have included to our lifes. We have an assertive position as being Turkish ready- made clothings sector at innovative manufacturing. However their numbers are low right now, we have the firms which have increased their smart product rate to 10- 15% in their collections. I believe Turkey will have an important share at smart product range to expand fast in the near future thanks to innovation.’’
