Uludağ Textile Exporters Association (UTİB), which organizes the participation organization to the Denim Premiere Vision Milano Fair took place in Italy, shared the views of UTİB Chairman Pınar Taşdelen Engin in his speech. Engin stated that investments have made by Turkey during 1980s following researches have supported the nation to reach the fourth place in world denim exports
Pınar Taşdelen Engin mentioned about ongoing support to growing number of companies every year and said "We have taken our place with 27 companies among the countries with the most participation. We have made our works in order to meet all the needs of our companies at our UTİB booth. We have also distributed the promotional catalog that includes details of Turkish companies to the fair visitors’’
Engin pointed out that the impact of the Turkish denim sector in the world market is increasing every year and said "Our companies attracting attention with innovations have shown their competitiveness through new technology products and designs both in denim fabric and ready-to-wear sectors once again. A number of global Ready-to-wear Corporation are expected to prefer Turkey as main market that are in search of economic and high quality production conditions’’
‘We have taken place among the most successful nations globally’
Engin mentioned about rapid rise in textiles and state reasons for this change with the success of companies in production and marketing nationwide and proximity of Turkey to Europe as geographical advantage and said:
‘Speed is essential in production and therefore, industrialists that conform to the requested capacity and quality standards have achieved success in production and exports without difficulty. Even foreign companies’ design once produced in Turkey, today, the nation has become own brand creator, designer and gives direction to the world denim fashion with technological products. We have taken our place among the most successful countries in the world both in denim fabrics and denim garment exports during 2018. World denim fabric exports increased to % 7 per cent with 338 million dollar amounting to 4 billion 910 million dollar in total, % 4,5 per cent in ready apparel with 2,1 billion dollar exports revealing that Turkey has become fourth country in total number of exports in both sectors’’.
"Turkey is producing denim garments in highest segment"
Engin stated that Tunisia, Egypt, Italy, Morocco and Bangladesh can be ranked among the countries that Turkey exports most of the denim fabrics that further underlined that production moves through to east in terms of costs and ongoing production activities in these countries by global companies have increased exports in that countries.
Engin said that Germany, Spain, the United Kingdom, Netherlands and Spain has the highest rankings in denim apparel exports and when taken into account denim apparel exports of these five countries, Turkey’s capability to produce highest segment denim apparel can be seen clearly.
Engin expressed that China from Far East, Bangladesh and Vietnam; Italy from Europe, Mexico and USA from American Continent, Tunisia and Egypt from Middle East are amongst the most important markets in denim fabric imports for Turkey and also US, all members of EU, Japan and Hong Kong are the primary target markets for the nation.
