Textile Sector has difficulty in finding employee in Kahramanmaraş

One of the most important problems of manufacturers in garment industry and ready wear industry which is one of the locomotive sectors of Turkey is cannot find qualified labour force. In our day which fundamental vocational education is insufficient for educating qualified work labour and personnel, CEO of Piserro, Uğur Kısakürek which gives service with its 30 stores in both domestic and overseas said ‘’ People are suffering from finding job but we, as being garment industry manufacturer have difficulty in finding qualified work labour as well’’.

By stating that Piserro manufactures 1200 suits per day with its 700 employees on total 36 thousand 500 square meter area which has 11 thousand 500 square meter closed area, Uğur Kısakürek said they are trying to overcome the qualified work labour that they need with the bands they set up in their firm. Kısakürek said ‘’ We are trying to solve the qualified personnel problem with the bands that we set up in our firm. In these bands which are for research and development, we are also teaching the work. We are giving the training of the work. Our personnel are trained in a 2- 3 month training process. But after they reach a certain level, we are taking them to the production bands’’.

Kısakürek who stated that unemployment is an important problem for Turkey and in Kahramanmaraş ‘’ Syrian employee problem’’ has started to be discussed, said ‘’First of all, the work problem of our own people is more important. But in the region, there is also a personnel problem. If government gives permission by doing the necessary regulations, why not Syrian people are worked? Finally, these people have settled in Turkey in one sense and their livelihood are concerning our community as an important problem’’.

Cheaper the work labour, more tending to those places

Uğur Kısakürek who stated that one of the most important problems of garment industry and ready wear is employment cost and sector goes where the work labour is cheaper, also said ‘’ In the past when the employment wasn’t high in Europe, the whole production was carried out there. Germany, England, Italy and France were leading the way in garment industry production. But once the employment costs have started to increase, garment industry has tended to the countries such as China, Far East countries, Egypt, African countries and Middle East. Yet, if the misrule didn’t happen in Iran, Syria and Iraq, 70% of the garment industry would go to these countries. Because, the cost of labour in these countries is cheaper’’.

Kısakürek who explained that when talking about Far East, it doesn’t only mean China, but also countries like Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Vietnam and Egypt maintain to be attractive for textile sector with regard to cheap labour, also stated ‘’ But in these countries, prices are increasing gradually. Because the world is not like before. They are also globalizing. Everybody can follow everything and can be informed from innovations and other countries. They want to own luxurious consumption goods. Therefore, higher the consumption, higher the work labour costs and the expectations of the people. But whatever may come, our closeness to Europe is a big advantage. We have the chance of carrying out production and deliverance before weeks and even months than them. And this gives power us as being Turkish textile suppliers’’.
