The General Manager of Teknomelt who has been a member of European Nonwoven Association (EDANA) since it was established and The Member of The Board of Kahramanmaraş the Chamber of Trade and Industry Salih Ziya Gümüşer answered the question of our Publication Group. Salih Ziya Gümüşer who stated that nonwoven sector in Turkey started under a certain title and developed, said ‘’ Actually Turkey has available spaces which need to be developed at this sector that has many production techniques. But as the general production sense in Turkey is just starting with the things that the others done, it seems that it has gone round in circle at spunmelt field. Unfortunately our country is exceedingly full up for manufacture at spunment field but we have still too much deficits at other manufacture fields of nonwoven. As Teknomelt, we set off from this detail and we have always wanted to be mentioned as a firm manufacturing and developing different nonwovens rather than a classical nonwoven manufacturer. Thus, in our 5 years manufacture past, we have thought fit making investments for such different fields rather than increasing our current manufacture capacity. At the same time, we have based on applying the most suitable manufacture models on this sector which is appropriate for the image of Europe’s most effective, fastest, most quality supplier country with our previous experiences. That’s to say quick and quality service. And this caused our name to be announced rapidly at many field and win a seat at the market’’.
Gümüşer who told that Teknomelt first started for manufacture with 100 ton capacity per month with meltblown manufacture method and then widened their capacities by carrying our 300 ton spunbond investment. He said ‘’ In 2014, we reached a 700 ton capacity per month in total with 300 ton additional SMMS investment for hygiene and medical marketplaces’’. Gümüşer underlined that the products they manufactured were technical textile products required advanced technology, stated that they needed to update and revise the equipment annually and said they used Italian, German, French, Far East and domestic machinery equipment on their machine tracks.
2015 is going through difficult
Gümüşer who stated that 2015 was a difficult year for them as well as all sectors said ‘’Many force major evolutions such as recession in Europe, euro and dollar value loss which is our most important export market and reaching of border trades in southern region the level of end unfortunately affected negatively our 2015 expectations’’. Gümüşer who said changes caused with the exchange difference on petrol based polymers which was the raw material of nonwoven sector put manufacturers in a tight spot and problems in our southern border region , commercial narrowing in Northern Africa regions effected the production at the sector at the same time and he continued his words ‘’ As the production volume in our sector is mainly export focused capacities, the problems in global market affected our sector seriously for capacity narrowing’’.
Single Use Products have enlarged market
Gümüşer who stated that single use products for either hygiene or using time in developing world won a seat at the marketplace each passing day, also said ‘’ Increasing of quality and capacity with developing technology at hygiene sector cause showing up new products continuously. As being Teknomelt, we discussed this market seriously before carrying out investment on hygiene sector in 2014. Whether demand at marketplace or its technological development pushed us to make a serious feasibility. In conclusion, we made a SMMS investment fort his field with a serious capital. We supported this investment which we made just for hygiene sector with a laboratory. Now we are offering service as a well supplier for the market with our high technology and our establishment culture that we have had before’’.

Gümüşer stated that hygiene sector was an important marketplace in Turkey in parallel with the developments in the world, said ‘’ For me, technological development and R&D are one of the most important features of technical textile separating it from textile. When we evaluate with this reason, nonwovens which are one of the most important arguments of hygiene sector, witness many product change for technological development and R& D. In such a marketplace having such a frequent product change, you need to follow change and have a form giving product to the market. Since I was involved in this sector, one of the most significant element I learned is if you don’t have R& D and P&D, you cannot never say that you are a nonwoven manufacturer. If you say, you cannot survive for a long time at the market. Actually, it’s all this. Moreover our motto is ‘’ innovative nonwovens’’.
