Staubli, the global manufacturer of weaving & preparation technologies, managed to attract attention with the high-tech machines it exhibited at ITM and the close relationship it established with the visitors. The technologies that were exhibited at the booth of the company are as follows; The new Univalette electronic jacquard machine, used for applying names and lettering to fabrics, the new SX type electronic Jacquard machine, the new generation of rotary dobbies S3060/S3260, the new CS1 electronic let-off motion that ensures equal tension for selvedge warp threads, the LX32 for the narrow fabrics, Magma T12 for tying technical warp ends and the warp tying machine TOPMATIC for very fine and delicate yarns. In addition, exclusive carpet samples produced on ALPHA 400 series carpet weaving machine of the Staubli Group member Schönherr, and DEIMO – providing electronic control solutions for textile machinery - were presented at the same booth.
We made an interview with Fritz Legler, Head of Marketing, Sales & Service at Staubli, about the business of the company, which is one of the most important players of the sector with more than 4000 employees, sales and customer service subsidiaries in over 25 countries and agents in 50 countries.
Fritz Legler stated that Staubli is a Swiss-based international group that has been offering weaving solutions to the textile industry since 1892. “Due to the importance we attach to the Turkish market, we have been operating with our own company in Turkey since 1996. In addition to our Sales center in İstanbul, with our branches in Denizli, Gaziantep and Bursa, we offer far-reaching services to textile manufacturers in Turkey,” said Legler. Legler underlined that because of the importance of the Turkish market, they participate in ITM 2012 with their machines and their own booth. He emphasized that they brought their latest technologies to the fair. Legler said that these technologies include electronic jacquard machines including harnesses, eccentric cam motions, dobbies and weaving preparation systems such as warp tying machines.
Legler stated that they also follow the carpet waving industry very closely or the market for automatic drawing-in machines but that they could not bring all machines to their booth. “I can clearly say that jacquard machines are very important and have a strong position in the country. In addition, we also notice keen interest in the fields of warp preparation solutions such as automatic drawing-in or warp tying or carpet weaving,” said Legler.
Turkey Overcomes the Crisis and Sets an Example
Fritz Legler reminded us that Turkey successfully saved itself from the global crisis, which affected everybody deeply. “Compared to some markets in the vicinity Turkey is showing its strength and progressing well. For that reason, Turkey is a very important market for us and we are really happy about the developments in Turkey and how the country found a way to differentiate itself,” said Legler.
Legler said that Turkey is different from the Asian market and they regarded the Turkish market as a bridge between Asia and Europe. “We believe that our Turkish customers turn toward fabric types which add value and have a corresponding demand in Europe or in other markets. Moreover, when we look at the Turkish textile industry in terms of human resources, we see that Turkey has a great deal of well- educated people and thanks to your employees with foreign language qualifications, you keep pace with the demands of the Europeans very well,” said Legler and that the Turkish textile manufacturers demand a more advanced technology and this increases their strength in the market. “The Turkish textile manufacturers produce new fabrics, therefore they demand a technology of higher quality. As Staubli, we will continue our existence both in Turkey and in the global markets,” said Legler.
Production Accelerated, Energy Solutions Gained Importance
Fritz Legler underlined that the technological developents continue at full speed and that innovative solutions for our customers are at the forefront of our daily work. Fritz added that they offer new eccentric machines and dobbies for high speed weaving. Legler remarked that developments for synchronization and proper drive mechanisms are ensured in these machines. “Our customers demand high quality production and operating conditions which are effective and easy to change from one stage to the other,” said Legler.
Legler also emphasized that as the speed of the weaving machines increased, the amount of the energy needed increased too and that new solutions had to be found to save energy. Legler said that as Staubli, they focus on solutions guaranteeing energy preservation. “In order to decrease energy consumption and friction, we have to have easy motions and simple drive chains without impairing functionality.”
Innovations are brought in ITMA ASIA
Fritz Legler stated that having ITM Istanbul left behind, they are going to participate in ITMA ASIA / CITME, in China and exhibit a wide range of products. Legler also said that the group member DEIMO is going to exhibit their electronic drives and control solutions in China. Legler underlined that they will exhibit their new drawing-in machine SAFIR S30, which received great interest in Asian markets.
