KOSGEB President Hasan Basri Kurt stated that within the framework of the "National Technology Move" carried out by the Ministry of Industry and Technology, big manufacturers are carried out works to localize more their supply chains.
Kurt, who reached Konya for the signing ceremony of the cooperation protocol between KOSGEB and ASELSAN Konya within the scope of supplier development activities, said that the Supplier Development Program will form a very strong wing of KOSGEB in the coming years.
Noting that they signed a protocol to strengthen the SME’s infrastructure needed by big enterprises in Turkey, Kurt said, "We are striving to ensure that more SME’s will participate in the supply chain of our big enterprises and that parts are manufactured locally. In this context, we are carried out works with TOFAŞ and ASELSAN. Therefore, we are working to satisfy the machinery equipment demand with R&D and P&D.’’
Kurt pointed out that businesses import some part of their export items from overseas and said that thanks to this protocol, some of the parts will be manufactured by SME's.
SME’s are Bringing Together with Big Enterprises
Emphasizing that they aim to keep the added value in the country by conducting strong R&D, Kurt said, "There are many different parts in the formation of a product. Some of these parts are transported from abroad. Some of them are produced domestically and some are produced by the factory itself. So, the factory assemble them. In this context, the more you multiply the domestic part, the more you increase the localization rate of large companies. Turkey is now doing this well in the automotive industry. We do it in different branches as well." Kurt stated that with the widespread of this program, it will increase the competitiveness of big investors investing in Turkey.
Pointing out that the local supplier has increased its production capability, Kurt said, "We have seen these in the pandemic, during the energy and logistics crisis. As a way to overcome this, we offer our SME’s such an opportunity to bring them together with big enterprises. Up until now, over 250 candidate suppliers of our SME’s matched with big enterprises. This is a long-term program."
