Sarmak Increases Its Power in the Sector with New Distributorships

Sarmak Compressor which is one of the important actors of compressor sector in Turkey has been serving in the field of compressed air systems for 38 years manufactures special compressors for different sectors and in addition to that, continues growing by receiving distributorships of famous brands in Turkey.

Fixed screw air compressors, “cycle adjusted” fixed screw air compressors, water-jet oil-free screw air compressors, portable screw air compressors, turbo air compressors, piston air compressors, air equipments of various pressures, analysis systems, automation systems are among the product groups served by the Sarmak which manufactures special compressors for the sector. Murat Saracoğlu, General Director of Sarmak,  said that they make production in their factory found in  Adana Organized Industrial Zone and added that they serve the clients with regional directorates in Istanbul and Ankara which offer post-sale maintenance services as well, Istanbul Marketing Centre as well as Maintenance Centres found in Bursa, Kayseri and the newly opened one in Denizli.

Expressing that they have just received new distributorships apart from the compressors they manufacture, Saracoğlu reported that they signed agreements with ALMIG Kompressoren GmbH which is one of the most rooted compressor firms of the world and was established in 1923 to receive the distributorship of oil-free compressors that have superior technology in Turkey and with Atmos which was established in 1899 to receive distributorship of the Diesel Portable Screw Compressors in Turkey. Saracoğlu gave the following information: “ALMİG makes production in 3 factories, two in Stuttgart, Germany, and one in Austria while Atmos makes production in the Czech Republic, a member of the European Union.”

More Cost Effective and More Durable Compressors

Murat Saracoğlu stated that totally oil-free compressed air of high quality is important not only for the industries of medicine, food, electrical engineering and medical equipments but also for each enterprise where top class products are manufactured and emphasized that oil is not used in the oil-free screw compressors of ALMIG in any phases of the process unlike other traditional oil-free compressors in the market. Explaining that the possibility of oil to mix with the air is reduced to zero in this way, Saracoğlu emphasized that “water”, the most natural one of the materials in the nature, is used in the compression process instead of oil thanks to the high technology used. He added that: “In ALMIG compressors, unlike other oil-free systems, the water necessary for the compressor is provided through the integrated air dryer. Thus, the costs resulting from the use of tap water and filter system are eliminated. Additionally, maintenance fees are lower thanks to its plain design. Low cycle and low temperature technology provides more efficient compression and longer life for the compressor.”

On the other hand, fields of application of the diesel portable screw compressors include such sectors as construction and mining where electric supply is not available. As a requirement of the settings of the construction and mining sectors, the machinery and equipments should be durable. Besides, portable diesel engines are used in these sectors due to the lack of electricity. The fuel used in the portable compressors constitutes the most important cost item. Atmos uses efficient Perkins diesel engines in its diesel portable compressors. The compressors used in these fields should be practical and plain. Sensitive and complicated systems used in other compressors may lead to problems in the fields of construction and mining. Atmos portable compressors are manufactured for a durable performance by considering all these conditions.”

Giving information about their export activities, Saracoğlu expressed that there is an important export potential in the sector in Turkey. Expressing that an export which is of appropriate quality for the price is possible as the production capacity exceeds the national need, Saracoğlu emphasized that the countries which mostly focus on western countries have had to head towards other countries at times of crisis. Stating that they made export in 1990 for the first time, Saracoğlu added that: “We firstly expanded towards Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and other Turkic Republics. Our current activities focus on the Middle East, Central Asia, Northern Africa and Balkan Peninsula. The export rate among sales is 15 % approximately. Our firm which increases its market share constantly has participated in sectoral fairs in Iran, Iraq, Egypt, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Bulgaria, Greece, Russia, Ukraine, Romania, Algeria, Jordan and Kazakhstan. Sarmak which improves its bilateral relationships with other countries and establishes complete compressed air systems in those countries finds successful partners in most of these countries and obtains the opportunity of making export through franchises in a stable manner.”

Most Compressors in the Market do not comply with CE Standards

Touching upon the problems in the sector, Saracoğlu expressed that introduction of products which do not comply with norms&standards to the market and unrecorded sales are the most important problems. Saying that such unfair competition conditions affect us negatively, Saracoğlu continued by saying: “Implementing the EU standards, instead of keeping them just on the documents and higher levels of awareness among users will eliminate these problems. Unfortunately, it is almost impossible to say that most of the compressors in the market comply with CE norms. Out of norms and standards applied in the compressor components and for test conditions, many important points even including the plate thickness values of the compressed air tanks can be ignored. We, as Sarmak, fulfil the production and test phases at the standards of ISO and CAGI PNEUROP. Producing quality is not a motto for us but also the understanding of our firm. You can see the reflection of this understanding in all members of our firm. Compressed air, which is critical type of energy, is a serious work. Detection, analysis, establishment and post-sale maintenance services of such systems should be carried out only by the specialised and reliable enterprises. The most common mistake in buying compressor is to focus on the first investment cost. What is more correct is to add the energy consumption, spare parts and maintenance costs for a period of 10 years into the first investment cost.”
