Reiners + Fürst Continues Quality Oriented Investments

Since more than 70 years manufacturing Mönchengladbach/Germany and noteworthy for its high-quality products in the spinning industry of rings, Reiners + Fürst under their 3’rd Generation management is continuing its production activities. At their headquarter located in Mönchengladbach, President Benjamin Reiners answered the questions of our publishing group about Reiners + Fürst history and current activities and also provided information upon their innovative products.

Benjamin Reiners, providing information about the history of Reiners + Fürst, which was founded in 1945 by Walter Reiners and Stefan Fürst; “Last year in November we celebrated the 70th anniversary of our company. Our company was founded in 1945 by my grandfather Dr. Walter Reiners who was the owner of Schlafhorst Company and by Stefan Fürst, whom Mr. Reiners described as the best engineer that worked for Schafhorst back then. Our family-owned company, Schlafhorst, was destroyed during the Second World War and after the war, was not allowed to make production. During this period, my grandfather really tried hard to keep Mr. Stefan Fürst to stay with him because he was such an important developer and engineer For example, he had invented the Autoconer, which is still a well-known product today. Therefore, he was really important for the company and so in 1945, my grandfather and Mr. Fürst, decided to establish a company together. And they named it Reiners + Fürst. They carried out their new venture in the basement of Schlafhorst, because it was the only place not yet destroyed during the war. The first area that they started to work on was not textiles, but a pasta-making machine. So you could attach this machine, which had a few rollers, to the table produce pasta,in 2 different sizes. Back in those bad days, this machine had been very useful, only potatoes were popular at that time and then at least by this machine you had some possibility to have some other dish on the table.”

After World War II, as Reiners + Fürst started production, Mr. Benjamin Reiners explained that their second product was a knotting device, for splicing two yarns and he continued as follows; “The production of the noodle machine only lasted for 2.5 years and so in 1947-48, Reiners + Fürst started up with rings and travellers. Also in the basement over there, at Schlafhorst, with self-made machines. Schlafhorst soon was able to rebuild and start up again as well, so R+F was set up to manufacture rings and travellers and Schlafhorst was building textile machines again.”

Better Performance With Enhanced Products

Providing information also about the new product range and investments of Reiners + Fürst, Mr. Benjamin Reiners mentioned that with their latest stage of development of the chromium-coated ring, Turbo, which had been recently introduced at ITMA, they are able to offer a better performance. Mr. Reiners, gave the following information about the new products: “We further developed our spinning components, rings and travellers. Especially during the course of last year, we have further developed the chromium-coated ring, which is called Turbo. We have now, the newest generation of this ring, with even better performance, values mainly achieved by better roughness values on the surface of the ring. So it gives the customer quicker starting up of the rings, longer life time, faster spinning conditions and maybe even better yarn values. Also for the ring travelers, we have further developed our production processes, and we invested a lot into new machinery in our production, to be able to offer even higher quality ring travellers.”

“We Have Closed Quite a Lot of Deals at ITMA”

Mr. Reiners expressed that they were pleased with the interest from Turkish visitors at ITMA in Milan and defined that the Turkish visitors were one of the largest groups taking place at ITMA in Milan which they attach great importance to.

President Reiners explained that together with the agreements carried out at ITMA in Milan, they had surpassed the goals they had set for the year 2015 and their turnaround had been higher than expected and said, “At ITMA we closed quite a lot of deals. If there hadn’t been ITMA, these contracts would maybe be signed this year or maybe later, so we have them earlier in our books. And we are happy about this.”

“Our Main Goal is Sustaining Company Investments”

Answering our questions regarding the new technologies and their 2016 targets for the markets, Mr. Benjamin Reiners indicated that in order to sustain the operations of the company, they always focused their attention on new investments. Mr. Reiners finally commented “Regarding investments into our company, we have basically a very strict principle. Each year to make a certain amount of investment in to the company, is an important requirement for us. This also depends sometimes of course on certain conditions that may occur, but obviously we do not change this decision depending on the business we are receiving. Because it’s always going maybe like a curve up and dwn, but we say investment is basically fixed to keep the company running and to improve day by day, that’s our main target. We expect the business for 2016 to be a little less than last year, but last year was very good. So our expectation for this year is still on a good level.”
