General Director of Salteks, Dr. Levent Dandik who evaluated nonwoven sector for both Turkey and the world, said that nonwoven production in Turkey showed a parallel growth with the world. General Director of Salteks who said that nonwoven which are manufactured by using melting and drying methods have a big share in the sector, said ‘’Nonwoven production in Europe is exceeding two million tons with 5% of growth per year. While the production of melted nonwovens is growing about 3% per year, the growth rates of dries and wet products are about 6% per year. Production of the nonwoven products obtained with water needle, mechanical needle, thermal and chemical weave methods show 9% of growth per year. And the growth speed of the nonwoven products used at wet tissue, construction, automotive and flooring fields is 12%. We can say this field has the highest market growing speed.’’
Salteks which dates back to 1940s and has an important position among Turkish nonwoven manufacturers is keeping on being one of the leader firms of the sector with its technology renewed each year. Dr. Levent Dandik who is Director General of Salteks which supplies for many sector with its production diversity gave information on the product range: ‘’ We are producing products on the fields such as bed and furniture, garment, home textile and decoration, filter, medical, hygiene, shoes and slippers, automotive, white appliances, construction and isolation, artificial leather on nonwoven. Especially on construction and isolation; our products are available such as geotextile, bentonite clay carrier, under- parquet, floor protector and sound and heat isolation.’’
Director General of Salteks which carries out manufacture on a 40 thousands of closed area in Çatalca plant shared sectoral evaluation for 2015. Dr. Levent Dandik who said that as well as other sectors, nonwoven sector was also affected negatively due to the geopolitics and socio- politics location of Turkey, said the following things ın the subject ‘’Economic and political problems happened Europe, Russia and Middle East caused economic shrinkage at nonwoven sectors. This case reduced the export possibilities of nonwoven products. Despite all of these negativenesses, new investments were carried out as well which enabled important capacity increases at the sector in 2015.’’
2016 Targets of Salteks at Nonwoven Sector
Director General Dr. Levent Dandik who told Salteks 2016 targets said ‘’At the end of 2016, we completed the investment of thermal and chemical weave fiber wadding production line. By increasing the product range on this line, we are targeting to manufacture innovative products and acoustics featured products which are appealing to automotive, white appliances, furniture and construction sectors. With our innovative coating and final operation techniques we added to our production track, we are plannings to manufacture functional products for flooring, home textile and furniture sectors. And increasing of our export numbers is one of our other targets taking place on our route.’’
