In addition to the scholarship support, an internship program is also starting this year, which opens the doors of a bright future for young people, for the transition from student to business life and for the first step in their career. Textile and Raw Materials Exporters' Associations, Ready-to-Wear and Apparel Exporters' Associations in our country and the Turkish Textile Industry Employers' Association (TTSIS) in cooperation with the "My Choice Textile Engineering" project, which was launched in 2019, continuing to support students in its third year.
Within the scope of university-industry cooperation, in the protocol signed between the Exporters' Associations and the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), which provides support for the employment of qualified workforce trained for sustainable and more value-added exports, students who will prefer Textile Engineering are given scholarships and job safety. The scholarship and employment project, which has been operating for 2 years with the aim of bringing qualified young people to the sector, increased the occupancy rates of the "Textile Engineering" department from 42 percent to 86 percent, while increasing the department scores by about 100 points. Within the scope of the project, which increased the number of preference for Textile Engineering by 208 percent, nearly 200 students are given scholarships today.
Chances of Employment Available for Textile Engineers
With the My Preference Textile Engineering project, in order to train qualified manpower from higher education to industry, students are provided with internship while they are studying at the university and employment guarantee after graduation. In order for young people to take an active role in positive transformation on behalf of the sector, this year, in addition to the scholarship program within the scope of the project, within the framework of university-industry cooperation, it aims to provide students with a practical training program in production factories for at least one semester.
