Independent Industrialists' and Businessmen's Association President Nail Olpak, at the ‘Extended Meeting of Presidents’, called the business world for unity, to raise the positive perception of the economy.

Member’s of MUSIAD Share a Positive Outlook for 2016

Independent Industrialists' and Businessmen's Association (MUSIAD), held an Extended Meeting of Presidents, with Deputy Prime Minister Mehmet Şimşek, to evaluate the year 2015, and to discuss their expectations for the 2016. At the meeting, results of surveys conducted among members have also been announced. MUSIAD President Nail Olpak, upon the evaluation of the survey results, quoted as saying; "MUSIAD members are positive about 2016. With 64% of a rating, the survey results depict this. As MUSIAD, without making a distinction, we are calling on all businesses and public institutions. As MUSIAD, without making a distinction, we are calling on all businesses and public institutions. Let us not be satisfied by 64 percent, in order to raise the positive perception to 100 percent and to achieve success, let us enhance collaboration and work more together. Let us strengthen our industry and our production, raising it to a higher level. Let us, together, write the 'new story' of our economy.

“Reform, Is The Magic Word For Turkey’s Economic Future”

Deputy Prime Minister Mehmet Simsek, responsible for the Economy, who attended the meeting, also made the following assessment with respect to Turkey and the world economy; "On one hand, there is the issue of a period that is coming to an end.  So as to say, the US Federal Reserve (Fed) has begun the interest increment process, in a sense that, the first step of the global monetary policy normalization is taking place. There are effects brought by this. On the other hand, we see China, for many years, 30-40 years, displaying a 10 percent or above growth rate, which is now rebalancing and encountering a slowdown period. There's are shocks caused by this, that also have an impact on commodity prices, "he said. The global crisis, due to Turkey, being an effective guideline, could turn this in to an opportunity, rising to an upper class with structural reforms, Simsek said, "Reform is the magic word for Turkey's economic future. With our roadmap and reform package, we will evaluate the opportunities & establish reaching to the level of a developed country.”

“The Upcoming 4 years is An Advantage”

Mr. Olpak, evaluating the survey results undertaken between MUSIAD members upon 2015 evaluations & their expectations from 2016 stated that; " Where as in the beginning of 2015, 58 percent of our members said they had a better expectation compared to the previous year, 18 percent, had evaluated the year 2015, assessing that it had been better for their company, while 50 percent answered the question as being worse, 33 percent, replied that the conditions had remained the same. When we asked our members to evaluate their overseas sales, 16 percent noted that they had experienced an increase, where as 37 percent had experienced a reduction. 47 percent of our members expressed that their had been no change in their exports.  At the beginning of 2015, 55 percent of our members where aiming to increase their investments and only 29 percent stated that they had carried out new investments.” Mr. Olpak stating that the second section of the survey consisted of 2016 expectations, quoted as saying, “When we asked our members, their expectancies from 2016, compared to 2015, 64 percent replied that 2016 would proceed better, 18 percent expressed that it would proceed similarly, where as 18 percent, stated that they expected it to be worse than 2015.”
