With the support of Istanbul Leather and Leather Products Association (IDMIB) and studies conducted by the Association Of Turkish Leather Garment Manufacturers (TDKD), Turkish leather sector is hosting more than one thousand business people from 15 countries such as Canada, Dubai, Beirut, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Tunisia,Lebanon, and particularly from Russia, in Antalya.
Mustafa Şenoacak, Chairman of Istanbul Leather and Leather Products Exporters’ Association, delivers a speech during the opening of the sixth edition of Leather & Fur Fashion Show and states, “export volumes of our leather and leather products sector are increasing day by day. We have achived USD 1.5 billion export in leather and leather products sector with an increase of 11 percent during January 1 – November 2 period. Together with these figures, we have already passed the export figures we reached last year. We have exported to 191 countries during during January 1 – November 2 period. Exports of leather and leather products increased in 118 countries we export to in this period.”
Export Of USD 227 million To Our Locomotive Market Russia
Evaluating the export of leather and leather products to Russia, which is the locomotive market in the leather sector, Şenocak further explains, “during the period of January 1 - November 23, we have made exports to Russia, which is our locomotive company, with a 34 percent increase amounting to USD 227 million. Within the same period, we have increased our exports to Germany by 2.7 percent to reach US 112 million and to Italy by 33 percent to reach USD 102 million. We have exported USD 123 million worth exports to Russia in the footwear sector with an increase by 98 percent, USD 43 million in the leather clothing sector by 4 percent increase. During the period of January 1 - November 23, we have achieved USD 43 million worth exports to Russia in the leather apparel with an increase by 4 percent while there has been a 108 percent increase in precious fur export to reach USD 11 million.”
Over USD 20 Million Contribution To Exports
“We organise Leather & Fur Fashion Show, which is held for the sixth time this year, twice a year during fall and spring. We cover all the expenses, from flight tickets to accommodation expenses, of over a thousand businessmen particularly from Russia, and Dubai, Beirut, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Tunisia, Lebanon, Belarus, Chechnya, Moldova, Greece and Kyrgyzstan. We are hosting more than 400 foreign companies and over 1000 business people. Each company buy minimum USD 50 thousand worth of leather and precious fur.
