Kahramanmaraş Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KMTSO) President Serdar Zabun answered the questions about the 5th International Kahramanmaraş Textile Machinery Fair of this year.

“Kahramanmaraş is an example of victory in economic development with its industrialization attempts. 40 billion pounds of Turkey's economy has managed to become one of the most developed city of Kahramanmaras, thus attracts attention with its giant employs of 150 thousand people. Exporting to 125 countries with 300 exporters, the biggest market of the city is the textile industry. The textile industry, which makes up about 70 percent of the economy, adds strength to Kahramanmaraş's economy. ”
“Textile Industry Determines the Economy of Kahramanmaraş”
Recalling that 61 percent of Kahramanmaraş exports consist of textile products, Zabun said that the textile industry determines the economy of Kahramanmaraş; also noted that ; "Kahramanmaraş that spends all of its grant of state for the Turkey’s economy, has launched a high-caliber jobs including in the textile mainly thanks to entrepreneurs, metal utensils, in energy, in food, in the paper industry and the cement industry. The biggest support for Kahramanmaraş's economy comes from the textile industry. ”
"Kahramanmaraş that creates the %15 of Turkey’s textile investments, especially cotton yarn weighted structure of the textile sector, supplies exports of 8 percent, 7 percent of employment, 35 percent of cotton yarn production, 13 percent of the woven fabric production while covering 12 percent of knitwear production.” said Zabun.
“In addition, investments in denim production have seen significant improvements in terms of value-added products in recent years. With these investments, Kahramanmaraş produces 60 million square meters of denim annually. This figure corresponds to the ¼ of the total production of Turkey. Denim is a strategic sector in exports with $ 10 per kilogram. ”
“KTM Opens New Markets”
KMTSO President Zabun also evaluated the contribution of the International Kahramanmaraş Textile Machinery Fair (KTM 2019) to be held for the fifth time this year in Kahramanmaraş; “Kahramanmaraş which hosts the International Kahramanmaraş Textile Machinery Exhibition and gathers the world's giants in this field. This organization is very important in terms of demonstrating the global position of Kahramanmaraş in this sector. KTM opens the door to new markets in order to increase textile exports of Kahramanmaraş. Kahramanmaraş, which stands out in terms of quality with each passing day, manufactures and exports to many European countries, especially Italy. KTM is the only fair in our province in such an important sector in terms of investment, production, employment and export.”
Zabun also mentioned the support of textile technology manufacturers from all over the world in KTM Fair in Kahramanmaraş for the commercial activities of the city and stated that; “In addition to Kahramanmaraş's performance for production, KTM offers significant opportunities to become a more powerful player in global trade with a successful graphic design in R & D, fashion and design.”
Zabun noted that ; “At the same time, while improving the city's competitiveness in trade, Serdar Zabun says that it brings technology giants to the city and provides fast access to technology. “We make a great effort to ensure the diversity of export markets and products. It is very important for Kahramanmaraş to host this exhibition which brings together domestic and foreign investors, machinery and technology manufacturers.”
“Kahramanmaraş Will Write New Success Stories”
Zabun who emphasized that the new organized industrial zones will contribute to Kahramanmaraş and the regional economy; said that “Kahramanmaraş will write new success stories when our new organized industrial zones are completed. ” The Chairman of KMTSO underlined that an important infrastructure will be established in the field of specialization and said: “The works of textile, metal, food, livestock and greenhouse organized industrial zones are going on. These regions will provide significant support to production, employment and exports. We also opened our Türkoğlu Logistics Centre. Our products, which are produced in organized industrial zones, will spread to the world from our Logistics Centre. Kahramanmaraş will provide a significant advantage in production and logistics with these investments.”
“KMTSO Is 90-Year-Old Giant Tree Today”
KMTSO also provided information on the strategy that they have set for Kahramanmaraş industrialists and increasing their trade volume in 2019, KMTSO President Zabun pointed out that the private sector aims to strengthen the adaptation of the private sector to global competition conditions by saying;
