It was Proved that Textile Products are Carrier for Katalysts
The fact that nylon yarns are ideal carriers for chemical and bio-chemical catalyst processes are proved through compound synthesis and pharmacological experiments. Science Journal published in the USA the findings of a research conducted by the German a short time ago. Chemists of North-Western Germany Textile Research Center (DTNW) found in Krefeld developed a creative process for durable fixation of organic catalysts on the women tights or, with their more widely known name, simple nylon fabric with the contributions of Max Planck Coal Researches Institute located in Mülheim/Ruhr. Observing that catalysts can be transferred on the fiber surface easily with the held of ultraviolet light, scientists saw that they could complete a strong covalent adhasion process at 5-10 nanometer. Industrially, it was detected that bound species could enter into higlhy interesting chemical reactions with a series of high catalytic. Additionally, it was concluded that the material could be used for more than 250 times without a loss in its catalytic activity. Dr. Klaus Opwis from DTNW who was the leader of the project financed by IGF – Industrial Research Unit affiliated to the Ministry of Economy of Germany said that: “This research conducted on the textile will lead to great changes in the sectors of pharmacology, chemistry and biochemistry in an unpredictable manner in the near future.” In this aspect, it is envisaged that continuous catalytic process of waste material in the products will reduce the cost in the near future. DTNW is a member of the German Textile Research Institute and is one of the 16 research institutes operating in Germany which appreciates the publication of Science Journal. Managing Director, Dr. Klaus Jansen, a chemist himself, spoke of the highest honor for the participating researchers.
