“It Is Not Possible to Compete with Ne 30 and Ne 40 Yarns”

Ahmet Duygal, Group Manager of Kipaş Holding Yarn Enterprises, one of the leading yarn manufacturers of Turkey, stated that the competitiveness in the yarn sector will be created with the production of more special yarns by the firms. Duygal expressed in his explanation about this issue that, “There are certain regional powers in the world. Today China, India… Recently, Pakistan, Turkic Republics are the countries making serious yarn investments and having significant capacities. We do not have the chance of competing with them in terms of prices. They have certain advantages ranging from state support to raw material supply. Thus, we direct towards different products. In other words, our firm does not enter into competition in Ne 30 and Ne 40 yarns which are considered as the main item of India. However, we try to transform disadvantage into advantage by producing more special yarns that India cannot make.

“We Declared This Year as the Year of Production”
Stating that Kipaş has a good position in spinning in Turkey, Ahmet Duygal added that they declared this year as the year of production. Pointing out that they will make new investments and their production will increase, Duygal added that, “We are building a new yarn plant in Kahramanmaraş. There will have 5 ring plants, 2 open-end plants and one folding twisting plant. In terms of the number of spindles, we have around 215.000 spindles. We had about 45 machine twists and 12 thousand rotors. This year we are continuing the investment process. Machine purchases were completed. We are planning to complete mounting until the end of the year. We are expanding the open-end capacity with 90.000 extra spindles and 9.500 extra rotors. Our daily production will rise to 320-330 tons from 220 tons.  Thus, our production capacity will increase. This can evaluate this situation as a consequence of producing different yarns, making yarn production for every sector and making good quality production. We did not refrain from making our investments even in this economic crisis environment. While everybody is talking about crisis, we continue our way with concrete steps.”

“We Do Not Make Production Only For Textile”
Stating that, when the scale of Turkey is considered, almost all yarn factories make production for clothes and home textiles, Duygal said that they make industrial production along with these fields. Promoting their wide product range, Duygal stated that Kipaş carries out production in many fields from cord fabric used in car tyres to high-resistant needlework yarns and added, “We are the raw material supplier of such firms as Altınbaşak and Örenbayan. We can also add the yarns used in the tea bags used in the food sector to the examples of the fields in which we carry out production. Actually it is a simple yarn but consequently, it is a textile product. We have to add medical textile into these fields. We have made production from non-inflammable, anti-ballistic, bullet-proof and high-resistant special fibres such as Kevlar and Nomex especially in the last several years. There are fibres which are used in conductive textiles and petroleum chemical plants and eliminate the static electricity in human body. We manufacture yarn out of these fibres as well.”

“Technical Textiles is an Untouched Field”
Stating that only a few companies work in the technical textiles in Turkey, Ahmet Duygal emphasized that firms should renew themselves in this field. Expressing that there is a world standard in the cotton price, Duygal added that there are no limits in technical textile or special blended production. Group Manager of Kipaş Holding Yarn Enterprises concluded her speech by saying: “Value added profits are in question in the technical textile productions of firms. For progress in the sector, further research as well as increasing effectiveness in industrial and technical textile fairs are needed. ‘How can we get a share from this pie?’, ‘How can we integrate it to us?’. The answers of these questions are important in terms of renewal. We have infrastructure and manpower. The only problem is to get organized. If we succeed this, the days in which textile manufacturers will be happy are close. There are numerous unknown industrial textile fields in Turkey. Discovery of technical textile fields and starting production after the organisation process will enable the creation of new profits and market environments.”
