İskur Tekstil at Premier Vision Paris with the New Product Group
Abdülkadir Kurtul, Chairman of the Governing Board of İskur Tekstil A.Ş., answered the questions of our magazine group about their participation in Premiere Vision Paris and Turkey’s potential in fabric and yarn production. Stating that İskur Grup has a significant share in the fields of production and export as one of the important textile enterprises of Turkey, Kurtul said the following about the activities of the group: “Today İskur exports more than 70 % of its production to more than 30 countries in 4 continents including Italy, Russia, Morocco and Brazil. In the survey of “Turkey’s Biggest 1000 Exporters” carried out by TİM, according to the data of 2014, İşkur ranked 114th with its export figure of about 127 million USD and managed to become the 5th biggest exporter in the textile sector. Besides, in the “Turkey’s Biggest 500 Industrial Entities” survey of the Industrial Chamber of İstanbul, two firms of İskur Group were included according to the data of 2014. The feature distinguishing us from other competitors in the sector is that we work with an amateur spirit and enthusiasm in an institutional structure and discipline on one hand while we are open to innovation and technology on the other hand.” “Interest Shown in the Fairs Motivates Us” Stating that as İskur, they have been attending Premier Vision Paris where professional suppliers and clients of the sector meet for many years, Kurtul continued his remarks about the fair as such: “Premier Vision Paris is a place where we meet with our clients, managers and other firms in the sector and where world textile sector meets. It is a summit where we can follow all fashion trends, all colours and innovations of the year, we learn our deficiencies and we submit our innovations. Fairs are not the places where suppliers and clients meet and orders are placed; they are now the places where new horizons are followed. Contributions of fairs cannot be underestimated not only in the textile sector but also in all sectors. I pay attention to the fairs on behalf of myself and my entity and I believe that their place in the world trade is highly important. The interest shown in our firm in these fairs are highly pleasant and intensive. This motivates us.” İskur Grup will Display Its Yarn, Fabric and Apparel Products Providing information about the products to be displayed at Premier Vision Paris, Kurtul said that, “At the fair, we will display our ecru, melange, core spun and shantung yarns from Ne 6/1 to Ne 50/1 that we obtain by using cotton, viscose, polyester, tencel, modal and similar synthetic fibres through open-end, ring and airjet technologies at our own facilities as well as the knitted, woven and denim fabrics we manufacture from these yarns. At the same time, apparel products manufactured from our fabrics with our own designs will be displayed.” “High Value Added Products Will Carry the Sector One Step Further” Making assessments about the potential of Turkey in fabric and yarn production and stating that production of high value added yarns will be much more profitable, Kurtul expressed that, “There is current tendency towards high value added products called “fancy” from low value added products called “basic” in yarn and fabric production in Turkey. This is the model that will carry us one step further in this sector as a country. Basic goods are manufactured in a much more cost-effective manner especially in far eastern countries. Their profits are low as well. However, the products requiring special engineering, craftsmanship and design have a potential of high yield and competition advantage in the market. Besides, our country is at a good position both in terms of its geopolitical location and engineering and craftsmanship for the European fashion centres. We should create fashion centres the world follows by making the best use of this advantage.”
