ISKUR Group Turned The Crisis Into An Opportunity

Iskur , starting its operations with cotton trade and ginning, operates today from yarn to knitting and woven fabric, from color finishing to read-to-wear, in all parts of the textile sector and in the area of energy. The firm established in 1991 in Kahramanmaraş is known as one of the important groups of employment in the area. The Iskur Textile Energy Firm whose main operation issue of Iskur Group is yarn production comes to forefront with its successful Works in Europe and Turkey.

Iskur Tekstil has 3 open-end, 1 ring, 1 compact yarn factories in total. The firm produces approximately 75 ton per day and about 27.000 ton annually. According to the data that Turkey short fibre yarn production capacity is 2.300.000 and the proportion of use of the capacity is about  % 80, Iskur is stated that it has about 1,5 marketshare in the result of production that Iskur have conducted. Besides big groups, in Turkish yarn sector where many large and small textile factories operate, Iskur stays in a very powerful position as a marketshare. The company which produced about 23.000 ton yarn in 2011, by exporting 7.800 ton of this, showed the achievement of selling % 34 of its annual production . As Tekstil Dünyası, we have taken important information from Iskur Group Executive Manager Abdul Kadir Kurtul about the development of the company and the expectataions from the sector.

We Produce Yarn Kind Over 1500

Kurtul, stating that they produce from such materials as cotton, polyster and viscose in the space Ne 4/1-40/1 in the Iskur’s open-end premises, said “ We are able to produce yarn kind over four hundred from % 100 one material or fibre mixture, plain or shantung.” Kurtul, saying that the production range of ring and compact production premises is much broader, continued his words: “We are able to operate production from Ne 6/1 to 40/1 in the carded line and in the combed cotton line from Ne 12/1 to Ne 70/1.We are able to poduce yarn kind besides % 100  cotton, polyster, viscose, tencel, modal materials or mixture of them, plain, shantung and lycra yarn kind  over 1500. Besides such production of knitting fabric as Single Jersey, Ribana, Lacoste, Stretch, our yarns are generally used in such  production of woven fabrics as sateen, gabardine, poplin and ottoman and in the field of denim fabric.”

Kurtul explaining that the raw material are generally supplied from abroad emhasized that as well as it is qualified, they buy cotton from many countries of the world. Stating that the biggest buying is conducted with America, Kurtul; “ We buy from the companies that we have taken accredit from the region, especially from Diyarbakır. Even if it is a very small amount, we produce special and qualified cotton in our own agriculture firms and use it.” Kurtul emhasizing that viscose material is not produced in our country said ; “ We inport all of this production from abroad, however we also buy the polyster  generally from inland from the Sasa.”

Kurtul, giving information about the machines used in the factories, stated that they use Schlafhorst, Trüztschler, Zinser and Rieter spinning machines.  Kurtul, emphasizing that the sector should work with the high technology, continued his words: “ This has just one wy, that is import machine. I wish that the machine industry were developed and we were able to meet our all needs from inland. I hope, one day big machine producers that dominate the yarn sector and is the world leader will be from our country. So, we are able to buy from them. Therefore, we will be able to avoid the current deficit of our country.”

We Turned The Crisis Into An Opportunity

Kurtul, stating that they really want Turkey to be a country whose background is very strong and which produces very powerful machines, said ; “ These crisis faced at times hinders the process, however we should live this crisis times with no damage and we should learn tol ive with the crisis.”

Kurtul, saying that the crisis in Turkey effected first the financial sector and then effected the reel sector, continued ; “ Its negative affects still continue in some countries. When we look at the situation from Iskur perspective, in the last quarter of 2008,the starting point of the crisis, we experienced a stability. We had to close some of our factories temporarily but then we brought about ourselves. We changed our tendencies by seeking new and alternetive markets. We tried to manage the crisis by minimizing our risks with our natural hdging ways. We succeeded and got out of that crisis with succeess. The second half of 209 and the year 2010 ended positively. In 2011, this positive atmosphere continued. Today, in our global world, crisis is not a surprise any more, they are things that are among the daily life. Therefore, we should learn tol ive and handle the crisis.”

Additional Tax Did Not Effect Us

Kurtul, telling that they are not effected by the tax brought by the government, said; “ As Iskur, we use  about half the yarn we produce in our own knitting and woving factories. We export over % 30 of it. So, our selling of yarn outside the group inside the country is very small. We sell abroad all the production we manufacture. In this regard, the additional tax brought to the imported fabric did not effect us. However, it contributed a lot to the local yarn and fabric producers selling inside the country. I look very positively at such regulations that protect the domestic ındustry.”

Kurtul, saying that the tax broght to such productions as import fabric and yarn did not effect very much, has claimed that they can experience more useful terms with different practises. Kurtul, telling that they are expecting the support to the yarn investment in the New Stimulus System taht will be declared these days, said ; “ Because textile and ready-to-wear sector are the sectors,in which  the employment is most intensive in our country, these fields must be supported. Some countries abroad conduct ant-damping investigation about the yarns that they buy from our country . In these investigations,  the leading authorities of our country should be together with the exporters and support them.”

We Will Continue Investments

Kurtul, explaining lastly their expectations from 2012, ended his words; “ As the sector, we lived 2010-2011 very lively and busy. The fluctuations faced especially in the emtia markets raised the prices of raw material really high. This, parallelly effected the yarn prices. Now, there are stable prices. In this regard, ı think that 2012 will last much more stable. As Iskur, we are thinking of keeping on our investments of yarn this year too. In our target, we have a plan of investment of vorteks and one more compact premises.”
