Increasing Interest in Techtextil and Texprocess

Techtextil, which is one of the most important nonwoven and technical textile organisations of the world, and Texprocess, which is the meeting point of the textile and ready wear sector, will be organized by Messe Frankurt in Frankurt, Germany, on 4-7 May. The details of the event which will last for 4 days were shared in the press meeting held with the participation of Michael Jänecke, the Brand Director of Messe Frankurt Textile Fairs and Elgar Straub, the Managing Director of the Association of German Machine and Plant Manufacturers (VDMA).

Michael Jänecke, who will take part in the event as speaker, made special explanations about the fair to our Magazine Group. Stating that many firms will introduce their innovations in the concurrent organisations, Jänecke expressed that Messe Frankfurt, which organises 45 fairs in 9 countries, has met with immense interest for both Techtextil and Texprocess and added that: “Technical textile is a story of success. The use of technical textiles that are present in all parts of our lives is rapidly increasing. Currently, about 25 kg textile material is used in a car.” Stating that Techtextil which has been organized since 1981, thus, has become one of the most important fairs of the world with the ever increasing number of its participants, Jänecke added that, according to a survey conducted in the 2013 edition of the fair, 90 % of 1330 participants from 48 countries and 96 % of 27.000 visitors from 97 countries left the fair satisfied.

“13 Country Pavilions Are Certain”

Stating that they are striving to keep this interest and satisfaction permanent, Jänecke said that they allocated a separate hall for the functional textiles used in the garment sector. Adding that country pavilions will also be present as in the previous editions, Jänecke stated that: “The countries to open pavilions in Techtextil are Belgium, China, England, Italy, Portugal, South Korea, Switzerland, India, Taiwan, Czech Republic, USA and Turkey. Negotiations are proceeding with Tunisia and Russia.”

Expressing that the demand for a pavilion varies by the country, Jänecke said that the countries with at least 10 participating firms are officially allowed to open pavilion. Saying that pavilions provide significant opportunities or the firms, Jänecke continued his remarks as follows: “Pavilions provide the participants with advantages in terms of logistics. In addition, countries may make more active and effective promotions. Governments also provide support for pavilions.” Stating that the Turkish pavilion, for instance, received a considerable amount of support from the government with the contributions of Istanbul Garment and Apparel Exporters’ Association (ITKIB), Jänecke added that the registrations for the manufacturing firms operating in the field of nonwovens, which is one of the most important segments of the textile industry, are ongoing.

Stating that the number of participants increased by about 10 % in comparison to the previous edition, Jänecke said that the current numbers of participating firms are 900 and 200 for Techtextil and Texprocess, respectively. Expressing that the participation of 7 and 22 Turkish firms is definite for Texprocess and Techtextil, respectively, Jänecke added that these numbers may be misleading; they may increase when the firms to participate in the fair together are included in these numbers and the final figures will be available by the end of the month.

Techtextil Symposium

Stating that they removed the “Source It” area which had been allocated for supply in the previous edition, Jänecke pointed out to the lack of necessary support from many countries as the most important reason of this decision. Expressing that various competitions will be organised as complementary programs in Techtextil, Jänecke added that Avantex and Techtextil innovations rewards are united and Techtextil and Avantex symposia will be held as a single symposium titled Techtextil Symposium.

Emphasizing that the symposium to be held conducts motivating studies for the sector, Jänecke said that: “Latest innovations and technological developments are the topics of the symposium. It mainly focuses on new productions and technological developments in textile. The themes of Techtextil Symposium also include requirements of the users, nano technology and high-performance textile products, sustainable textile technologies, fibre technologies, geotextile and smart textile products.”

Stating that Techtextil Symposium which will be an event reflecting the global opinions about new products, trends and textile materials will be organized as single sessions in the forenoon and afternoon, Jänecke said that the symposium will take place in a place much closer to the fair area in contrary to the previous years.

Clothing Fashion Show

Expressing that they will organise “Clothing Fashion Show” in order to increase interaction between visitors and participants, Jänecke added that the products manufactured by the leading textile research institutes of the worlds and universities with innovative materials will be exhibited. Expressing that Clothing Fashion Show will be organised in three different concepts including advanced technology fashion, creative product and functionality, Jänecke said that all the visitors are allowed to cast votes and the designs ranking first at the end of the voting will be awarded.

Stating that another important element of the organisation is IT@Texprocess, Jänecke said that they put this platform into practice in order to stress the increasing importance of globally growing information sector in the textile sector. Adding that software and solutions used in the sectors of clothing, home textile, upholstery, furniture, automotive as well as retail and wholesale sale points will be introduced to the visitors, Jänecke said that they will put another forum, where sourcing, sustainability and social standards in the field of Texprocess will be discussed, into practice.
