Good News from Minister Işık in terms of R&D

Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM) met with Fikri Işık, Minister of Science, Industry and Technology, at the meeting of TİM Extended Council of Presidents. Sharing the good news of a new practice with the exporters, Minister Fikri Işık said that the import of necessary tools for the activities of the R&D centres will be carried out as fast as possible. Providing the Minister Işık with information about the expectations of the exporters, Mehmet Büyükekşi, President of TİM, stated that, “Our exporters have special demands and expectations in many issues such as R&D centres, techno parks, industrial investments, investment incentives, certification agencies that fall under the field of activity of your ministry.”

Demand of Exporters Came True

Büyükekşi said that the Action Plan previously announced Action Plan and R&D Reform Package of the government included 13 demands of the exporters and this development will allow a serious transformation through which they might produce a high added value. About this matter, Büyükekşi added that, “R&D expenditures reached the level of 17.6 billion USD with an increase of 18.8 % in 2014 when compared to the previous year. We predict in 2023 targets that R&D expenditures will exceed 3 % of the GDP. At this point, we believe that private sector will assume the majority of the total R&D expenditures. R&D targets are a matter of life and death for Turkey.”
