Full Support from OTIAD to the Members

Ilker Karataş, the President of The Association of Osmanbey Textile Exporter and Businessmen (OTIAD) who says developing new strategies are inevitable at the sector due to the economic shrinkage in 2015, utters that especially exporters need to develop new strategies. About the sector target of 2016, Karataş says ‘’This year, the target of the sector is obvious. Iran, Turkic Republics, African countries and Europe and USA with more effort. Meanwhile, of course we won’t dispense with Russia and Iraq.’’

Karataş who shares his evaluations on textile sector within the scope of Turkey and the world, says that a shrinkage exists in the global market and big changes are available in the current markets. Ilker Karataş who states that textile potential will always be in Turkey tells on Osmanbey ‘’I believe Osmanbey which has had many crisis so far and has reached to the present will produce solutions to deal with this troubled period. Because, now we know the rule of the game, we have full knowledge of the business we do and we are aware that it is the sole and the big market of the whole world for us. We have to take position according to the changing balances by sticking heart and soul to our business on behalf of Osmanbey which has an important position for textile and garment industry with the wholesale exporter identity.’’

Sectoral Firms Have to Keep Pace with the Developing Technology

Ilker Karataş, the President of OTIAD who indicates that the textile firms need to keep pace with the developing technology says ‘’For last several years, the Ministry of Economy has really been fighting on ‘innovative products’, ‘strong design and high added- value products’, ‘new markets’ and ‘branding’ at many sector via roof organizations. It is struggling to raise awareness and encourage the sector and activating very reasonable supports and incentives. We are trying to carry the parts which concern us to the sector as much as it is possible. But I think textile sector doesn’t show enough interest or we cannot tell the improvements to the firm owners completely. ‘Design Support’ and ‘P&D Clustering Project’ are offering very good opportunities for our firms’’. Karataş who states that reaching to the new markets with the correct products at the changing conjuncture is costly and a hard process for a firm which moves o alone, says ‘’To go to the determined markets with the collections prepared under the control of the Professional consultants by drawing a route map together will make this process easier and less costly for not only a firm but also many firms.’’
