Cotton yarn, one of the most used raw materials that Turkey's textile production, also holds an important position among the exported products. Pamuk İplik Tekstil San. Tic. Ltd. Şti, which serves to customers with knit tricot cotton yarns, is also among the leading companies in the industry with its wide range of products and stocks offered in the fields of cotton, ring, open end and mixed yarns.
Providing answers to the questions of our publishing group about developments in the cotton sector, Fatih Pakdamar, owner of Pamuk İplik Tekstil San. Tic. Ltd. Şti, indicates fluctuations in cotton prices have directly affected the sector. "Since cotton is a seasonal product by its nature, yield and quality problems directly cause fluctuations in the price.
For this reason, pricing in the sector based on cotton is never easy. If you use cotton as a raw material, the cotton market is a business that requires serious follow-up while constantly fluctuating", comments Pakdamar.
"It Is A Challenge To Maintain The Standards In Cotton Yarn"
Fatih Pakdamar states the changing standards of cotton are reflected in the production process and quality of the yarn. "Cotton is a difficult raw material to produce cotton yarn because it is a raw material changing every time. The colour of cotton, the fineness of the yarn, the thickness and the pollution are usually the most important features. If you are a company that manufactures under certain standards, it is really difficult to maintain such standards. We manage all these challenging processes professionally to meet the expectations of our customers with the right product and we are committed to keeping our quality standards at the highest level at all times", states Pakdamar.
Pakdamar states the developments in the yarn sector are reflected in the production of cotton yarn. "Since we provide service in relatively classical field, our product range we sell is made up of traditional products, but with the use of new technology and raw materials in the yarn sector, new generation yarn types are also emerging. For example, the improvements in yarn are utilized in the production of fabrics with antibacterial, non-flammable, easy-to-iron, late-worn, non-perspirant, non-hygroscopic properties. "
"We can say 2017 has been more productive and satisfying after 2015, which was a challenging year for textile sector, and after and 2016 when the coup was attempted. In 2018, we expect there will be a fluctuating year under the shadow of the election expectations", suggest Pakdamar, emphasizing that the year 2017 was more productive.
"We Must Regain The Markets Lost"
"We were selling big volumes of textile products to our neighbouring countries in the past years. We were selling middle and cheap segment products to countries such as Iran, Iraq, Northern Iraq, Syria, Georgia, Greece and Libya. Developments over the last five years have caused us to lose all of these markets, hopefully we will regain these markets in the upcoming years", concludes Pakdamar, emphasizing need to re-focus on the markets we lost in the past as a country in 2018.
