Barutçu Tekstil continues increasing its power in the sector with its annual fabric production of 8 million meters

Turkish firms continue competing with big global manufacturers with its fabric production. Firms which participate in the global fairs regularly each year get the opportunity of establishing close ties with customers and can open to new markets. Lütfi Barutçu who is the owner of Bursa-based Barutçu Tekstil which exports 90 % of its production gave important information about the participation of the firm in the international fairs, its investments and future plans to Textile World.

Stating that Barutçu Tekstil was established in Bursa in 1991, Lütfi Barutçu added that they became one of the leading fabric manufacturers and exporters of the sector in a short while. Emphasizing that they have a modern manufacturing plant covering 15000 square meters in total, Barutçu said that: “We have an annual fabric manufacturing capacity of 8 million meters with the highly technological 4 Karl Mayer warp preparation machines, 120 dobbies and 10 jacquard looms in weaving halls of our factory located in Bursa Demirtaş Organized Industrial Zone. With this technological infrastructure, we can manufacture all varieties of fabric for especially women’s wear. We design two main fabric collections as spring-summer and fall-winter.”. Expressing that they meet their yarn raw material needs from such domestic firms as Sönmez, Acarsoy, Kipaş, Korteks, Polyteks, Barutçu added that: “We import floss silk from Germany, Poliester from Italy and South Korea, cotton from Tailand and cupro from Japan.”.

“We Attracted a Great Attention in Texworld”

Reminding that they possess a considerable customer potential both at home and abroad, Barutçu explained that they take part in the important fairs of the global market. Listing Texworld Paris, Textillegprom Moscow, Texbridge İstanbul among these fairs, Barutçu added that they organised a successful edition in Texworld Fair in which they showed up in September 2012. Barutçu continued his remarks as follows: Our product groups displayed in Texworld Fair included 100 % Viscone – 100 % Cotton- Polyester, Cotton, Elastane- Polyester, Viscone, Elastane-Polyester, Cotton-Polyester, nylon, elastane mixtures; plain, stripped or checkered fabrics for shirts, fabrics for manufacturing pants, jackets and dresses as well as jacquards and memory taffeta. Besides, Modal,Cupro,Tencel qualities attracted a great attention from our clients.”

Declaring his views on the environment-friendly production which was brought to the agenda of Texworld Fair this year, Barutçu emphasized that especially European consumers pay a special attention to how and under which conditions the products are manufactured. Reminding that they make investments in this regard, Barutçu added that: “For example, all of our weaving looms were air-conditioned. Besides, they were equiped with polluted air absorbtion and filtering systems. We also aim at being one of the firms making environment-friendly production in Turkey by using environment-friendly production techniques in our new fabric dyeing plant.”.

We Approached Cautiously to the Market But We Continued Our R&D Activities

Expressing that they manufactured about 13 million meter fabrics in 2011-2012, Barutçu explained that they exported 70 % of this production to 20 countrieswith BRT Tekstil and ECS STILL Tekstil. Making assessments for the sector in 2013, Barutçu expressed that: “In 2012, the common concerns of firms which mainly export their productions were the economical regression of Euro Zone and the political crises of the Middle East countries.”

In this context, Lütfi Barutçu emphasized that they adopted a cautious approach as Barutçu Tekstil and finalized his remark as such: “Despite adopting a cautious approach, we continued our innovation and R&D investments. Besides, we will complete our modern and high technology Fabric Dyeing Plant, which we started in 2012, in 2013. We target to head towards new markets with our high quality product groups and our production pace and to survive under the competitive market conditions.”.
