A New Record in Machinery Import

According to the import and export figures published by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), it can be seen that the European-based machinery manufacturers are both losing control of the Turkish textile market and are being replaced by the Far Eastern manufacturers gradually. To recall, textile machinery import of Turkey rached to 1 billion 743 million dollars in 2020 while pandemic effects were prevalent amongst the industry and while the year marked its importance as the most destructive in freight prices, delivery times specifically in supply. Due to the increase in demand in 2021, textile machinery imports reached 2 billion 382 million 435 thousand 398 US dollars by breaking a new record.

Textile Machinery Exports Also On the Rise

Turkish Textile Machinery manufacturers played a major role in the increase of annual export figures from 770,084,619 USD to 981,418,780 USD by 27.44% on an annual basis. As known, Turkish textile manufacturers continued their investments a year prior without slowing down.In spesific, both an increase in machinery purchases from domestic manufacturers and a possibility to channel new investments with the textile machinery imports was noted. Thanks to new investments, textile machinery imports increased to 2.4 billion dollars by 37% in 2021. Despite the delays in service and delivery under the pandemic conditions, noticeable interest in machinery imports was a topic of interest that should be carefully documented and analyzed for the domestic machinery manufacturers. Technologies related to the textile and apparel industries, which are listed with the Standard International Trade Classification in GTiP, are sorted in detail. Import and export evaluations associate with GTiP codes are listed as follows.

Imports of Machinery No. 8444 GTİP Increased by 63%
