Preference of the World: USTER® CLASSIMAT 5

Leading manufacturer of the textile control technologies, USTER® offers an innovative and powerful technology with the new generation USTER® CLASSIMAT 5 for error classification and prevention. Providing the yarn manufacturers and users with obvious developments in terms of quality coherence in a wide range of parameters, USTER® CLASSIMAT 5 stands out with visual recognition of yarn body and irregularities.

USTER® CLASSIMAT 5 which possesses all the features of USTER® CLASSIMAT QUANTUM and USTER® CLASSIMAT 3 leads in the optimisation of the cleaning limits and developing preventive measures against a wide range of errors. Detecting colourful foreign matters, herbal substances and polypropylene content thanks to its strong new sensor with a multi-colour light source, USTER® CLASSIMAT QUANTUM and USTER® CLASSIMAT 3 ensures the establishment of the necessary system for achieving the appropriate quality in staple yarns as a part of the integrated test and monitoring regime ranging from laboratory to the end products.

Automatic Identification

Making automatic identification of the damages being effective for defective types, USTER® CLASSIMAT 5 is a must for the yarn manufacturers with this feature as it offers the quality requested by the clients by finding the way for the yarn manufacturers to eliminate these errors through a yarn cleaner.

Measuring the quality level by conducting tests and assessments on too big samples, USTER® CLASSIMAT 5 has measurement results completed by strong analytical tools. Having limit analysis feature, USTER® CLASSIMAT 5 optimises the cleaning limit applied on the yarn. USTER® CLASSIMAT 5, which offers an index supply system, is capable of comparing yarns of different lots or yarns from different manufacturers in order to identify their quality levels.

USTER® CLASSIMAT 5 and USTER® STATISTICS

Gabriela Peters, Director for Yarn Testing of USTER Technologies, said in relation to regularity that: “There may be numerous reasons of irregularity. Among these, we can list presence of many naps in raw material, presence of numerous short fibres in the yarn, improper use of machines or use of damaged cylinder in the ring line. Use of USTER® CLASSIMAT 5 and USTER® STATISTICS prevents such errors.

Even though yarn manufacturers use the most modern technology, manufacturing an error-free and perfect yarn is not possible. We should focus on such yarn quality parameters as CVm – coefficient of variation in mass – in order to prevent bad or irregular fabric appearance. Experiences showed that this feature has a strong impact on how the end fabric will look. USTER® CLASSIMAT 5 offers vital test data obtained from its unique capacitive measurement system.”

Continuing her remarks, Peters stated that: “We see how the percentiles of USTER® STATISTICS are important and critical for understanding and controlling the yarn properties so as to achieve the desired fabric appearance. While 50 USPTM level yields acceptable results for CVm in numerous fabrics, a CVm value of 25 % is required in more critical weaving and knitting structures. Even 74 % CVm values meet the fabric requirements desired less. Apart from this, there is a significant risk in relation to irregular fabric appearance.

Practical Advantages

Yarn manufacturers who currently have the consciousness of quality benefit from the advantages stemming from the connection between CVm values and USTER® STATISTICS and fabric appearance and identify CVm values and USPTM values depending on the yarn contract. This approach which arises from the close cooperation between yarn manufacturer and user is a part of integral specification known as yarn profile and covers all the appropriate quality parameters. In this way, both partners make sure that yarns meeting the needs of the requested fabric application are used. Thus, good relations are established between the client and supplier. These examples emphasize the practical advantages offered by USTER® to the textile industry.”

Standing out with its unique features, USTER® CLASSIMAT 5 was also preferred by PALLAVAA Group, one of the leading yarn manufacturers of India. Durai Palanisamy, Production Director of PALLAVAA, specialised in Viscose, MicroModal, Modal, Polyester, Bamboo, Supima, pure cotton and their blends, said that “Our brand which makes production for such brands as Next, Marks & Spencer, H&M, Victoria Secret will maintain its leadership in the market by combining its strength with USTER” in relation to this matter.
