The authorities of Rieter, the leading brand of yarn technologies, gave information about the developments experienced in 2012. In the explanations made by the authorities, it was stated that protective measures were prominent in 2012. While it was reported that global market conditions led to serious problems in terms of cost, stocks and sales, it was emphasized that there was a decline in the expected levels. Considering the total order amount in 2012, a regression of 12 % stands out in comparison to the previous year. All the orders amounted to 839,7 million Swiss franc. In spite of the regression in the first half of 2012 in terms of orders, sales increases in the second half of 2012 led to positive expectations for 2013. Emphasizing that demands decreased due to the global economic crisis, the authorities reminded that orders of the big markets were also low this year. Stressing that the firm recorded an important progress, the authorities expressed that they managed to reach a certain level in the yarn market and also succeeded in receiving orders from certain regions of the world for the first time.
Considering the sales figures, total sales amount was 888,5 million with a regression of 16 % according to 2011. It was explained that both sales and order figures declined in the Premium Textile Components of the Firm much more than its spun yarn systems. While orders decreased by 10 % in the staple fibre systems, this rate was 21 % in the Premium textile components. The same situation was also valid for the sales figures. Sales of staple fibre systems decreased by 16 % while sales of Premium textile components declined by 19 %.
Second half of 2012 gave hope for 2013
As the uncertainty in the Chinese and Indian markets affected many firms, it also led to regression in the sales of Rieter. Having troubles in the Far East, which is one of the most important markets, Rieter managed to increase its sales figures in Turkey. Raw material price increase occurring at the Indian market in the second half of the year impeded the investments of firms. Emphasizing that there is an important recovery in the Indian market, the authorities expect that the increasing trend seen especially in the northern part of the country will continue throughout 2013. Another important market of Rieter is China where similar problems restricted manufacturers in terms of investments. In particular, the yarn factories had troubles due to the raw material price decisions of the government. In general sense, sales figures of Rieter increased in China as in the rest of the global market in the second half of 2012. However, despite all negative conditions, the authorities expressed that Rieter acted in accordance with its expansion strategy in Asia. While it was reported that all the firms generally had troubles in the Asian region, it was added that market position of Rieter was strengthened. Offering low energy consumption, high automation degree, high productivity and quality machine components, the firm is increasing the demands in its main markets, China and India.
Orders Amounted to 839,7 Million Franc
Rieter Group received orders which amounted to 839,7 million franc in total in 2012 with a decline of 12 %. Despite this decline, the firm received orders amounting to 435,6 million franc with an increase of 8 % in the second half of 2012. Factors affecting this positive trend included recovery in the Indian market as well as the increase in demands received from such countries as Turkey, South Eastern Asia countries and Southern and Northern America. Besides, Rieter explained that it would issue its detailed press release together with annual financial tables and a special report by the mid of March. Annual assembly meeting of the firm will be held in Winterhur on 18 April.
