Being one of the top ten cotton-producing countries globally, Turkey, remains on the top on production of non-genetically modified cotton. International Cotton Advisory Committe (ICAC) came to Aydın as part of the World Cotton Research Conference organized by Egean Exporters’ Assosication (Ege İhracatçı Birliklerinin) and which will be held in 2020 in İzmir. Here, ICAC visited Nazilli Cotton Research Institute (NCRI). Executive Director of ICAC Kai Hughes and Head of ICAC Technical Information Keshav Kranthi have been informed by the deputy of Institute Koray Şimşek on the research held in NCRI. Kranthi in in his statement to journalists, emphasized Turkey’s very position on the global cotton production. Kranthi, stating the importance of efficiency in cotton production expressed that “ Turkey is second in the World in terms of productivity and also the only country producing non-genetically modified cotton. This is a very important hallmark. We can’t even argue that Turkey is on the top both in terms of productivity and quality.
China İs First İn Total Production
When we ignore producitivity and quality, China, India and USA are on top cotton producing countries respectively. Turkey is 7th globally on this list.
