It is proven by Yeşim Tekstil and Kipaş which has been working together for many years that the positive collaboration between textile and ready-to-wear sectors affects sector positively. Kipaş and Yeşim Tekstil which are two of the leading companies in textile and ready-to-wear manufacturer, has signed a strategic collaboration agreement in order to purchase ‘Better Cotton Initiative’ certified yarn which is produced under eco-friendly and sustainable conditions. Within the concept of strategic collaboration agreement, while Yeşim Tekstil focuses to meet the requirements of its customers, it focuses to use more BCI certified cotton yarn and it aims to advise its customer about this subject.
Kipaş has started to grow cotton in some pilot region in Kahramanmaraş for the ‘Better Cotton Initiative’ which has been recently yielded around the world and has been recently known in Turkey. The cotton which is produced according to the standards of Better Cotton and expected to be yielded within 6 months is considered as alternative for available cotton production since it always finds buyer. In recent years domestic cotton manufacturers have difficulties due to taxes and cotton manufacturers had to import. So, Better Cotton application draws attention as an alternative method to make cotton manufacturer and buyer happy.
Full Support for BCI by Kipaş
M. Hanefi Öksüz, board chairman of Kipaş, who has said that they have been following Yeşim Tekstil’s studies about environment and sustainability for many years, has put in words their pleasure to be in a strategic collaboration with a leading company in its field in terms of Better Cotton Initiation (BCI) certified products. Öksöz kept his words by saying; “We have request for Better Cotton Initiation (BCI) certified products from most of our customers in particular from Yeşim Tekstil. We have decided to start this application in order to meet these requirements and to be able to make eco-friendly production without Brazil, India, and Pakistan. In first phase, we have made cotton production Kahramanmaraş where we determined plot areas, in respect to BCI criteria.”
Hanefi Öksöz who has indicated the BCI certification will be received for the produced cotton in parallel with BCI’s establishing operation unit in Turkey; “This system that we included, brings along recovering such as workers will have better condition and it will prevent child labor. There are some conditions such as using lesser chemical and water every year. So, it has an advantageous to decrease cost. Also, it is expected from the farmers that they would attend annual evaluation meetings and it is expected from every countries that they would develop new methods for their special conditions in these meetings”
It will Strengthen Strategic Collaboration
Şenol Şankaya, the CEO of Yeşim Tekstil, who has explained that having strategic collaboration between strong and big companies in globalizing world provides advantageous, has underlined that acting strategically in unison returns in positive for both of side. Şankaya who has expressed that they have been working with Kipaş so many years and they aim to enable this collaboration with eco-friendly and sustainable production, has said they attach importance to environment and substantiality.
Şankaya kept his words by saying; “The principles such as do not damage the nature, eco-friendly manufacturing and to make all this studies sustainable is very important for us and for our worldwide known customers. Thus, we guarantee to use more BCI certified cotton yarn and to guide our customer for this subject with this strategic agreement.”
