Goodwill Agreement Between Russians And Dow Aksa

DowAksa signed a goodwill agreement with Dow Chemical, Rusnano and HCC (Holding Company Composite) which are world's leading companies in the field of carbon fibre. It is stated that the subject of the agreement which was made between companies is about the production of intermediate goods and composite materials based on carbon fibre. DowAksa which is a joint venture between Aksa Akrilik and Dow Europe Holdings is aiming at increasing its power under favour of this agreement in Russia. The partners focus on meeting the needs of international markets by utilizing the opportunities in fields of aviation, aerospace, infrastructure, energy, transportation, oil and gas. The agreement, which was made in the world economic forum in Switzerland, was signed by Andrew N. Liveris, the Board Chairman and CEO of Dow; Anatoly Chubais, the Board Chairman and CEO of RUSNANA; Leonid Melamed, CEO of HCC; Heinz Haller, Executive Vice President and CEO of Dow, Chairman of Dow in Europe, Middle East and Africa, Board Chairman of DowAksa; Mehmet Ali Berkman, the Board Chairman of Aksa Akrilik, Vice Chairman of DowAksa.

Aksa, which entered into the market of carbon fibre by developing its technological infrastructure in 2009, established the DowAksa which is a joint venture based on 50 % equal share with Dow Europe B.V. which is a subsidiary of The Dow Chemical Company. With these agreements, it started to be among the most important suppliers in production of carbon fiber and carbon fiber intermediate goods. This joint venture offers a wide range of products to the rapidly growing carbon fiber composite industry, and increases its effectiveness in global area by developing technical service support. The studies to be made in such fields as energy efficiency, infrastructure, light-weight materials stand out in the text of new agreement in which the clauses of the agreement signed between Dow and Rusnano in 2011 remain same.

 

Giving information about the details of the agreement, Mehmet Ali Berkman, the Board Chairman of Aksa and the Vice Chairman of DowAksa, said: '' we believe that strengthening the relationships with Russian companies will raise the new investments in market of fibre.''. Expressing that this goodwill agreement will make possible the local production of high-quality composite materials, Berkman emphasized that Turkey could be among the companies standing out in field of composite materials. Stating that this agreement concerning the potential production of carbon fibre intermediate products, Andrew N. Liveris, the Board Chairman and CEO of Dow, said: ''This agreement will support our commitment in terms of meeting the increasing needs of developing regions such as Russia.

Fire In Factory of Aksa Akrilik

A fire broke out in the factory of Aksa which increases its production strength with the new advances in the global area. The fire breaking out in AKSA Akrilik Chemical Industry plants located in 13th kilometer of the highway Yalova-Karamürsel spread with explosions. It is expressed that the company's stocks also affected by the fire breaking out in the depot of fibre. It is stated that the annual production is performed as 308 thousand tons in the factory which is the world's largest acrylic fiber plant under a single roof. Making explanations about the fire, Ahmet Dördüncü, CEO of Akkök Group of Companies, emphasized that there is not any problem about the production. Stating that Aksa would continue normal production, Dördüncü underlined that there was no shortage taking place in the machinery park. Expressing that the fire broke out in the part of acrylic fiber used in the textile industry, Dördüncü stated that there was not any other plant part, in which the chemical substance stored, where any problem was not experienced. AKSA Akrilik Kimya Sanayii A.Ş operating under the Akkök Group of Companies performs services in fields of textile and industrial textile industry for more than fifty countries in five continents by producing acrylic fiber which is in class of synthetic based fibers. The world market share of Aksa is around 50 per cent in production of outdoor fiber which is one of its special products. Aksa is known as the first company bringing the acrylic fiber in the Turkish textile industry.  Turkish acrylic market developing with the company's significant contributions stands out as the second largest market in the world behind China. It is stated that Aksa's 2020 strategic objective is to increase its market share to10 % in the carbon fiber sector.
