While making accessible the transformation of acrylic for visitors to experience on an interactive platform, Aksa Akrilik takes the participants on a unique journey of a material that has revolutionized design, art and industries. Spreading over an area of 570 square meters in its factory in Yalova, Aksa Experience Area consists of 22 different stations and presents the usage areas and features of acrylic fiber with several amazing and sound experiences. In the project that will open a new insight and vision to the textile industry as well, while designing a novel way of communication, the interactive exhibitions describing how acrylic fiber is used in fashion, automotive, furniture, health and many other industries are intertwined with creative images.

A Field of Experience That Appeals to All Senses

Aksa Akrilik Board of Members and General Manager Cengiz Taş, who said that competitive, innovative, safe products for human health and for the environment, which designed by him in line with the sustainability principles, are forming the basis of their continued success in the sector, said, “ADA, an interactive platform, which offers its visitors from carpet to upholstery, from upper wear to socks, from yarn to handwoven, and from velvet to blanket, is promising a journey that covers the production process, evolution and unexploited potential of acrylic fiber, which is the most valuable raw material of the textile industry. ADA was designed as an experience area that seamlessly combines creativity, functionality and aesthetics and appeals to all the senses, beyond an area that you will walk around such as museum, gallery or factory.’’

The Simplest Way of Describing Acrylic Fiber, ADA

While stating that the Aksa ADA project was born out of a fundamental need, and the search for a better communicating the acrylic fiber, General Manager Cengiz Taş said, “People perceive things they touch and see more quickly and easily. From this reality, when we started to think about how to describe acrylic fiber in the easiest way, the result led us to this project. The term 'Aksa Experience Area' was become a source of inspiration for us. The aim in fact was to define the industry terminology, which was difficult to grasp, in an impressive way with easier methods.”

Witnessing the Entire Journey of the Acrylic Fiber World with ADA

At Tünel, the first point of ADA, the company values and personal experiences of the Aksa Akrilik employees on acrylic were being communicated. The slogans in the tunnel were formed by filtering the ideas that emerged with the participation of nearly 1500 employees and communicating what Aksa meant to them. Afterwards, the entire journey of acrylic fiber around the world is witnessed, from the production stage to the end user, and to even recycling and environmental impacts.

Colorful and surprising stops are being visited, from the acrylic fiber proportions in the product content which we use in our daily routines, to fabrics of different textures and thicknesses which separate with different production techniques, and from the collection that appeals to the fashion world with unique designs, to the areas where the superior comfort and performance which can be experienced that are offered in sports textiles.

Aksafil Investment

Last year, Aksafil, one of its most important investments, the pioneer of the project, has become operational after 3 years of intensive work by Turkish and Japanese engineers. Within the scope of the project, voluminous acrylic yarn, which we call high bulk, was produced for the first time with air jet spinning technology. With Aksafil, we have integrated a new business model and excitement to the flat knitting sector and to the bulk yarn which we led. The installed capacity of the facility, the second phase of which was commissioned this year, was determined as 6.6 thousand tons per year.

The technical yarn facility investment continues with a budget of 45 million USD. It is planned that the plant in question will be put into operation gradually by the end of 2024 and reach an annual capacity of 7 thousand tons.

Increased Profitability

Thanks to its competitive structure and efficient production, Aksa Akrilik has increased its profitability, and its EBITDA, which was TL 1.7 billion in 2021, reached TL 3.9 billion in 2022 with an increase of 130 percent.

In the year in which the capacity utilization rate was 94 percent which was well above the sector, the turnover also more than doubled compared to the previous period and reached 17.5 billion TL. On the other hand, its market value, which is growing every year, reached 29.8 billion TL in 2022, while maintaining its place amongst the most valuable companies of Borsa Istanbul.
