In Shangri-La Bosphorus on 10th December 2013, Istanbul Leather and Leather Products Exporters' Association (IDMIB) and Leather Promotion Group (DTG), which continue to operate in Turkey and foreign countries in order to strengthen brand perception of Turkish leather, organized 2013 DETAY Leather Products Design Competition, which is one of the steps taken for the purpose of support to young designers. In the second year of the competition, it was aimed to find out new designs and designers to the sector.
In the competition, which was organized in three different categories as footwear, leather crafts and leather garments, the presenter was Julide Ateş, the Chairman was Burak Çelet, who is Board Member of IDMIB, and there were many names from fashion and retail sectors in the jury. DETAY aroused great interest from retail and fashion sectors.
The Show was Admired by Audiences
18 contestants, who were chosen among 130 designers, competed on the podium with their designs. The visual show, which was created with choreography of Uğurkan Erez and presented by well know models as Sema Şimsek, Tuğba Karaca, Bilge Kara, Zeliha Çal and Irmak Atuk under the consultancy of Nil Uzun, was admired by audiences.
DETAY managed to become a contest which will determine the future with its concept emphasizing innovation, sustainability, creativity and advanced technology. The competition, which was punctiliously evaluated by academics and jury consisting of well known names from the sector and the fashion world, was appreciated with its monetary and educational awards offered to finalists. In each category of the competition, the prize money 10,000 TL was given to the winners. In addition, such opportunities as fashion and design education in foreign country and language education in Turkey were offered with the approval and support of the Ministry of Economy. The runners-up were awarded with 5000 TL and those coming in third place were awarded with 3000 TL. Those who were ranked in the competition won such awards as the right to participate in international fairs. In addition, all of the finalists except those ranked first, can participate to the Leather Clothing, Shoes and Accessories Design' training to be opened in IMA (Istanbul Fashion Academy) and the designs will be exhibited in Istanbul Leather Fair (IDF) which will be held in January of 2014.
