While pointing out the Turkish textile industry to promote around all platforms continually, Istanbul Textile and Raw Materials Exporters' Association (İTHİB) President Ahmet Öksüz said, “We have become the second largest participant country after Italy in a fair that appeals to the world. The fair has a special importance for the Turkish textile industry. Turkey has accumulated a great wealth in terms of sustainable production, R&D and design capabilities. So, we would like to reveal these verbally and demonstratively to the whole world at the Premiere Vision Fair.”
The textile industry met at Premiere Vision, one of the world's largest textile fairs held in France. 211 companies from Turkey participated in the fair where 1,310 companies from various parts of the world took part. Of the 211 Turkish companies, 145 were fabric, 11 were accessories, 9 were yarn companies, while the others were ready-made clothing and leather companies. While Turkey ranked second in terms of the number of participants, 304 companies from Italy and 162 companies from France were present at the fair.
While making evaluations about the Premiere Vision in Paris, Istanbul Textile and Raw Materials Exporters' Association (İTHİB) President Ahmet Öksüz said, “We continue to promote our Turkish textile industry on all platforms. We are doing a critical promotion with our 211 companies at Premiere Vision. We exhibit at the Premiere Vision twice a year. We are at the fair as the second largest exhibitor after Italy. Premiere Vision Fair has a regard as a fair that appeals to the world. Exhibitors and visitors come from many parts of the world. The general recession which felt around Europe and the USA affected the fair as well to some extent.. However, the sustainable and integrated production capability of our industry brings us to couple of steps further.”
We Pioneer Production Compatible with Nature
While emphasizing that Premiere Vision Fair which has a special importance as well for the Turkish textile industry, Ahmet Öksüz said, “Sustainability positioned as the motto of the Turkish textile industry. Recycling, using less water and producing in harmony with nature are among our priorities. Turkey has moved to a great spot to produce sustainable products. So, we would like to reveal these verbally and demonstratively to the whole world at the Premiere Vision Fair. The fabrics we exhibited in the 'İTHİB Trend Area' at the fair consist of the fabric collections of our companies which engaged in sustainable production. There is a trend in the world regarding production in harmony with nature. We are also leading the way.”
We Aim for Top 3
While recording that the Turkish textile industry is the world's fifth largest and the EU's second largest supplier, Ahmet Öksüz continued with the following; “While Turkey's general export is currently accessing simply 1% of the world's exports, our textile industry can get 3.5% share. Our goal is to be ranked amongst top 3 exporting countries in the world. For this, we should increase our exports by 3 billion dollars more and move our direction to value-added exports. We are continuing our work for this. In the first 6 months of 2023, we achieved exports worh of nearly 6 billion dollars. By the end of the year, we aim to maintain our current level by achieving exports worth of 13 billion dollars. As the textile industry, our priority is not to lose our market share in international competition and to increase our share in the global market. In this context, we are expanding our area of influence on all platforms, as in the Premiere Vision Paris fair. Recently, we took initiatives to increase our cooperation by hosting the CEO of INDITEX Group, Oscar Garcia Maceiras, in our country. In the coming period, we will continue to enhance our relations at full speed with both global brands and distant markets.”
