At the 'I of the World' event, which was organized for the third time this year by Istanbul Textile and Raw Materials Exporters' Association (İTHİB) in New York, USA, the Turkish textile industry and the leading ready-made clothing manufacturers, designers and textile distributors of the US, which has a regard as one of our most strategic export markets, have come together between 17-18 of January. While mentioning about the significant importance of US in the export of Turkish textile industry, İTHİB President Ahmet Öksüz, ‘’Our event, which we organized under our ‘I of the World’ brand, attracted great attention. With the new commercial networks we have formed, we will be able to make a greater contribution to both the exports of our sector and the economy of our country. As an industry which achieves 866 million dollars’ worth of exports to US in 2022, we are aware that we can get more stakes from this country. With the international organizations we organized, we are setting our industry for the future. As Turkish manufacturers and exporters, we will increase our share in all markets. 'I of the world' is an organization that we do specifically for the USA. The special work we conduct for the US in fact, demonstrates the huge importance of US for the Turkish textile industry. With the fair, we gathered the leading ready-made clothing and apparel manufacturers, designers and textile distributors of the US under one roof. In our event, apart from the biggest textile companies of Turkey, new start-ups that want to expand to the US also took part. With the new connections made possible, we not only increased our market share in US but at the same time we are setting our target to have more contribution to our country’s economy through exports.’’
We will Increase Our Share from US
While underlining the third rank of US amongst the countries in which Turkish textile industry achieves the most of exports, Ahmet Öksüz continued his wording as follows, ‘’We achieved 866 million dollars’ worth of exports to our most valuable target market, to the US in 2022. Also, we increased our share from US imports over 3 per cent. Moreover, we are aiming to take more active role in US as the Turkish textile industry which is the 5th largest textile exporter in the world and the 2nd textile exporter in the EU since US is the largest textile importer in the world with its imports worth of 36.3 billion dollars.”
We Make Ready Our Industry for the Future
As the textile industry, while achieving 13 billion dollars’ worth of exports in 2022, Ahmet Öksüz said, “In the last months of 2022, due to the circumstances affecting our industry in the global context, our exports experienced a fall. However, we predict that we will go into a recovery process from the midst of 2023. With the fairs and international organizations we organized, we are aiming to set our industry for the future. As the Turkish manufacturers and exporters, we are aiming to have presence in every market, with the awareness to increase our market share in our existing markets. As the exporters of a country that grows with exports, we will continue our work without slowing down. As the Turkish textile industry, which is the fifth textile supplier in the world, we are aiming to rise to the third rank in the mid- term. We will operate at full capacity to achieve this end.’’
