This year’s Spring Edition housed 3,273 exhibitors from 23 countries and regions (2018: 3,386 exhibitors, 22 countries and regions) over six halls at the National Exhibition and Convention Centre (Shanghai). This included an increase of 12% in overseas exhibitors. The top 10 visitor countries & regions this year were Hong Kong, Korea, Japan, India, the US, Taiwan, Russia, Italy, Vietnam and Spain. The invitation-only Milano Unica Pavilion had a 20% increase in visitor numbers compared to the 2018 Spring Edition, and reported a more than satisfactory presence of Chinese buyers, including those who could not visit Milan in February due to the overlap with the Chinese New Year holiday. In addition, Milano Unica noted the presence of international buyers from Asia, in particular South Korea and Japan, but also India, Russia and Saudi Arabia. As well as offering access to the global textile market, the fair also provided industry insight at the fringe programme, which included three panel discussions and 25 seminars.
468 Participants at the Yarn Expo Fair
The Yarn Expo Fair, which has been held simultaneously with Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics, received 468 participants from various regions. The number of exhibitors is increased this year. 82 Chinese companies participated in the fair, which included 56 participants from outside China. More than 3 thousand participants took part in Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics. There were pavilions from different regions such as Pakistan and India. Participants from China were divided into 4 groups: yarn, computer based systems and quality control systems. The number of participants increased by around 7 per cent compared to the last edition. There are also 4 fashion shows in the fair.

Orhan Aydın: National Participation will be Increased for the Next Period
The member of the Board of Directors of İTHİB Orhan Aydın stated that they closely followed the fair as İTHİB. Stating that they are pleased to see that Turkish exporters work effectively in all markets around the world, Aydın also noted that they provided support to exporters in every issue they needed and they considered this fair as a successful organization. In addition, Orhan Aydın, Board Member of İTHİB, stated that they will do the necessary works in order to include this fair in the list of national participation or prestigious fairs. Visiting the Turkish companies one by one, Aydın congratulated the participants and received their opinions on the fair.
Ali Yasin: We Couldn't Reach the European Customers I Expected
Ali Yasin, Özsar Textile company representative, said the following about the fair: “This is our first participation in this fair. It's a busy fair. We need to evaluate the turns and look at how much of it turns into a potential job and act accordingly. I couldn't reach the European customers I expected. Mainly, We hosted Chinese customers at our booth.”
Tolga Keskin: The Number of the New Customers Is Decreased
Tolga Keskin, the company representative of Soktaş Tekstil, said: “We have representative office in China. We can divide our customers into 2 groups. Tailors are the ones who prefer more specific products and the other customers who have big order form our two groups. Large orders outside China have decreased. We were pleased to visit our booth and products. We can say the fair is weak in the way of gaining new customers but we are having a successful fair. We're introducing our new collection.
Ahmet Şahin: Fair is Intense for Us
Sahsa Textile Apparel Company official Ahmet Sahin stated that; “ We are attending this fair for the fourth time. It is an advantage for us to participate in the fair with our current agency. We had our works for the region previously. In this respect, we care about the region. The fair is quite good and intense for us. We are doing export-oriented work.”
Canay Ünlü: Returns after the fair will be decisive
Ünlü Transfer Textile company official Canay Unlu, “This is our first participation in the fair. We have a point at finding an agent. Many European companies visited our stand. Overall a good fair is happening for us. According to the feedback we receive at the end of the exhibition, we can consider re-participation.”
İdris Bilginsoy: Participation is Intense, But Not As We Expect
The General Director of Adt Textile Idris Bilginsoy said: “This is Our second participation as a company is our company. Participation in the fair is very intense. Although this is a busy visitor, the exhibition does not as we want. Our aim is to buy products from China ’companies that buy products from China, is visiting this fair. And we aim to catch them. Very interesting… Far from being a fair.”
Murat Doğan: We are very pleased and we will attend next year
Doğan Textile company official Murat Doğan stated that; “We are attending for the third time. The participation is very intense. It is a busy fair. We are planning to attend again next year. We also started to sell products to this region. We are planning to work with an agency soon.”
İrfan Pekayla: Our Products Are Admired, We are Happy for the Attendance
Irfan Pekayla, who is the company manager of Bunyem Tekstil, said: “Despite the first participation, the fair is busy. But the turns are of course the decisive factor here. Returns are welcome after the fair. So far, we're very pleased. Our products are highly appreciated. This is extremely happy with us.”
Rahmi Yılmaz: We Have Arrived without Expectation, There is an Intense Demand
Ramnur Textile company official Rahmi Yilmaz said: “ We are attending the fair for the first time this year. We were not in any expectation as it was our first participation, we did not have any expectations about the fair. We came without high expectations. Despite this, a very good fair is going on. There is a great demand for Turkish goods in China. The visitors see the products of our country as an alternative to Italian fabrics. Especially the textile companies that produce in Europe show great demand for Turkish goods.”
Vedat Şahin: The Fair is Successful
Speaking about the fair Koteteks company official Vedat Sahin, stated that; “ The fair continues for us successfully. We get the efficiency we want. This is a development that makes us very happy. The visitors of our booth here are happy to leave.”
Ali Yasin: We Focus on the Potential Customers
Özsar Textile company representative Ali Yasin stated that they had their first participation in the fair, stated that; “It is a busy fair. But we need to look at this part of how it turns into a potential job. We could not reach the European customers we expected, mainly Chinese customers. And those who visited our stand were mainly Chinese guests.”
Messe Frankfurt Senior General Manager Evaluated the Exhibition
After already experiencing a significant increase in last year’s Spring Edition visitor numbers, and with muted reports coming from some industry events earlier in the spring / summer sourcing calendar, we were not expecting such a strong increase again this edition,” acknowledged Ms Wendy Wen, Senior General Manager of Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd. “However, it’s apparent that no matter the economic situation, the unrivalled scale and variety of Intertextile Apparel’s exhibitors means that trade buyers worldwide continue to choose this fair as their main spring / summer sourcing platform, year after year. We look forward to welcoming the global apparel industry back for their autumn / winter sourcing from 25 – 27 September, for our 25th anniversary.”
