This year, Paris Capitale de la Creation Award was given to Vakko, Özlem Süer, Esra Karadeniz and Hande Çokrak. It was decided that Turkey will attend Who's Next, Europe's largest garment fair, as "Guest country" this year in July. The awards were given by the Chairman of Paris Capitale de la Creation, Xavier Clergerie and Chairman of the İHKİB, Hikmet Tanrıverdi. Esra Karadeniz, with accessory brand Ekri, Hande Çokrak who is creator of the brand Maid in Love in the field of women's ready to wear, Özlem Süer with her eponymous brand and Vakko, one of the most established brand, participating to the fair with a collection of leather goods and scarves gained the most prestigious awards.
France is the 4th Export Market of Turkey
Speaking at the awards ceremony, emphasizing Turkey's journey to becoming a design country, Hikmet Tanriverdi said that Turkish brands and designers attended Who's Next in this season at record levels. Tanriverdi, emphasizing that they are proud of representing Turkey with a total of 41 brands and designers, continued his speech as follows: France is the 4th among the countries where Turkey exports clothing and apparel. Thus, Who’sNext, France's largest trade fair, is an important international platform for Turkish brands and designers. We will be attend Who’s Next Temmuz 2014 as ''Guest Country''. We will organize various activities. Turkey and Turkish fashion sector will have a promotion opportunity which cannot be accomplished with very large budgets. In recent years, Turkey reflects its success in textile sector to the design with the projects that it conducted. 8 designers attended the event within the scope of Fashion In cube Project which enables lessons about branding and internationalization and within the scope of Urge project supported by the Ministry of Economy and İHKİB, 10 designers and brands attended the project.The designers taking part in the project are as follows: Özlem Kaya, Simay Bülbül, Gamze Saraçoğlu, Nejla Güvenç, Çiğdem Akın, Mehtap Elaidi, Nihan Peker, TuvanaBüyükçınar, Gül Ağış, Aslı Güler in Urge project supported by İHKİB; and Özlem Kaya, Simay Bülbül, Gamze Saraçoğlu, Nejla Güvenç, Çiğdem Akın, Mehtap Elaidi, Nihan Peker, TuvanaBüyükçınar, Gül Ağış, Aslı Güler in the other project, Fashion in Cube.
