Turkish Design Week which targets to gather all of the sharers carrying on activities at design field under a single roof will host panels, conferences and workshops with the attendance of worldwide designers at industrial design, fashion design and visual communication design fields, universities, design schools, industrialists and academicians.
‘Turkish Design Week’ which will be held for the first time this year under the cooperations of the Ministry of Economy and Turkish Exporters’ Assembly (TIM) from 18 to 23 October 2016 will be enriched with exhibitions and fashion shows of the products of the finalists of design contests made within the year and the Turkish designs that were awarded in world’s prestigious design contests and national/ international project exhibitions of design centers and design offices. The event will also create an integrant design ecosystem by covering Design Turkey Award Ceremony and the exhibition. In the press conferences organized, as the application process has been announced to start for Design Turkey 2016, the deadline has been announced to be August 31st.
“We Want to Light the Torch of Design in Our Country as Well”
Mehmet Büyükekşi, the President of TIM, who talked during the contact meeting, gave place to the following statements by stating that they targeted contribution with the event for the branding and creativity of Turkey “We want to light the torch of design in our country as well. We especially consider Turkish Design Week which we introduce today very important in the sense of development of our export. There are 3 more important issues in the event; industrial design, fashion design and visual communication. We will discuss these 3 issues in Design Week that will be realized at Lütfi Kırdar. We target tens of thousands of participation including students, businessmen and industrialists. Thanks to this event, we aim developing high value- added products, popularizing and encouraging design.”
“We Can Create Brand, Too”
Nihat Zeybekçi, the Minister of Economy, by stating that according to the data of World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) published on December 2015, Turkey ranks 6th at brand application number and Europe ranks 1st for 5 years, record that Turkey will easily attend its 500 billion dollars of export target in 2023 by creating design and brand. Mr. Zeybekçi says “We can also design, create and our brands can take place at the most popular avenues in the world where international brands exist. We see Turkish brands in Paris, Tokyo or New York, and we are proud as we see these. One of the most significant things we need to do is to make Turkey a brand. We will make this self- confidence in unity.”
In addition to conferences, panels and workshops at Design Week to be organized on 18-23 October 2016, Turquality firms and Design Turley exhibitions will take part.
